IngramSpark - Thoughts So Far

I've been very impressed with IngramSpark. It's Lightning Source's self-publishing platform and includes tools for publishing print-on-demand (POD) paperbacks and eBooks. I used the paperback facility only.

So how does it compare to other POD services?

In the past, I have used and . The former is an arts council funded POD service that produces high quality books, but isn't entirely free to use beyond its basic service. The latter is owned by Amazon; there are very few char...

This Summer's Read...

This evening I popped down to Swanpool to take some publicity photos for , such as this one:

The Summer's Read

Then a random stranger gave me a bunch of daffodils:

Posing with daffodils.

So I asked him and his mates to join me for a snap:

Not sure who they are...

And back to the point, here's me showing off the new proof copy of My Granny Writes Erotica - Threesome:

Three hundred primary school children writing and publishing their own novel

Today, I issued a .

Three hundred children from the UK could be the next JK Rowling. Together, they are writing and illustrating a monster book, which will be published later this year.

The children, who are typically from primary schools scattered throughout England, promise tittering, tears and terror in their yet untitled chapter book. The story takes place in Fangleland on the Planet Zorbit and contains three menacing species of monster invented...

My Granny Writes Erotica Gets 100 Reviews

is my first book to reach 100 reviews, and it's maintained a 4.5 star average.

When I first published the novella, I expected it to get mixed reviews, not because I wasn't pleased with it - I am - but because it's comedy, which is very subjective. It's very silly and I know from past publications, such as , that many readers find silly books tiresome and are unafraid to say so it critical reviews.

"It was unrealistic!" bleat reviewers of Pompomberry Hou...

Sequel to My Granny Writes Erotica Out Today

is out today. It's the sequel to the critically acclaimed .

I highly recommend reading My Granny Writes Erotica first, otherwise the pretext will seem insane.

Here's the blurb for the second book:

Betty Berry, a 65-year-old grandmother, is struggling to come to terms with her new, unexpected career as a famous rumpy-pumpy novelist.

After being banned from her country club, Betty misses her respectable reputation. When she finds her elderly mother...

Children - would you like to publish a book?

In just four days' time, I will start writing my next monster book with help of children everywhere.

If you'd like to take part, the first task will be to create a new species of monster.

Ten schools will be participating but you can also follow at home.

If you're a teacher and would like to follow the project, I have already created the resources for week 1, which I am happy to send out in advance. Just email me [email protected]

Congratulations to Kathy Peploe, Winner of a Kindle Paperwhite

The winner of a Kindle Paperwhite has been chosen. I put all the names in a hat and used a process of 'Eeny meeny miny mo' to select the family member to make the draw. My sister-in-law drew the name and the winner is... Kathy Peploe.

Many thanks to everybody who took part.

The photo Kathy submitted to enter the competition

Here's a quick peek at some of the other entrants.

Announcing the Sequel to My Granny Writes Erotica

was intended to be a standalone title. Betty embarks on a very unusual journey then that journey ends. There was no book two in my mind ... until readers started asking for one.

The cover of My Granny Writes Erotica 2

The hardest thing about self-publishing a book is convincing people to buy it. You write a book and then frantically try and create a demand. So I felt it would be foolish to ignore a demand that already exi...
