MIA Until Release Day
Hi everyone!
It is getting close to release day, and that means I’ll be a nervous wreck and doing all those lovely last minute things writers do. You know, like fussing over Victor’s hair and wiping the smudge off of Luke’s face so they’re presentable.Ìý
In the meantime, I may not be answering emails for a bit, or responding on GoodReads/Facebook, etc. It’s just temporary so I make sure I have time. (Basically, I’m putting myself on self-ban of Tumblr, Facebook, etc., because YOU GUYS SUCK THE TIME RIGHT OUT OF ME.)
This is just until release day. But by then you guys will be ignoring me anyway to read. :) No worries. We’ll hook up later.
Don’t die. Don’t do anything Luke wouldn’t do, and for goodness sakes, don’t burn the house down while I’m gone.
PS Victor wanted to give something for while I was gone. The guy’s too sweet for his own good. ÓË

When I'm Writing a Scene...

So for the past few weeks, The Academy series has been growing, steadily and scarily.
Until one morning I checked rankings, and this happened.
That’s in Young Adult Romantic Mysteries. In Young Adult Mysteries, we’re still on the same page, but there’s a few more books between us.
I don’t know if any other writers do this, but I’m incredibly in awe to be this close to someone like John Green. (Or Sara Shepard, or any of these other writers for that matter.)
This isn’t something in your head that you try to achieve as a writer. Most of the time, I’m thinking of the next story and hoping my writing tells it pretty well. I really want readers to see this story like I see it, or at least close enough.
But when I saw this, as a Nerdfighter, I’m just really in a daze. Probably in a creepy way.
Because it’s almost like, “Look! It’s JOHN GREEN. I could almost reach out and TOUCH him!
And I hear through the other nerdlings that he’s not the touchy type, to which I say, Tough noogies! Computer touches don’t count.
It kind of feels like there’s a writing con or a vid con happening and there’s a presentation, and he’s in the first row, and you’re in the fifth. You probably stare at the back of his head, giving him the creepy-oid feeling. And when the presentation is over, you try to intervene his path to perhaps say hello and maybe handshake.
And then it doesn’t happen because a couple other people did it first, and then it’s too awkward so you walk away.
You know? This close. Just enough so when you go home, you tell all your friends you “met John Green on your trip.
"Hey! I’m on the same page as John Green."
Will probably confuse more than impress.

PS The fact that I have a Dr. Green in The Academy may or may not have any relevance to John Green getting his doctorate a few months later.
PPS Hank Green. There. Mentioned him. Just because I like him, too. Probably because of the science. And the singing.
PPSS Gabriel says hi.
