Yep! The only two complete English translations are still the ones by Jenner and Yu, although there is a new abridgement by Julia Lovell.

I'm currently reading this book. Monkey's name in the novel is 'Aware-of-Vacuity'. Yes really. Is he ever called Sun Wukong in the book? Most people in real life call monkey Sun Wukong. Am I reading the wrong translation?

Monkey has several names. Sun Wukong (phonetic transcription of pinyin in Chinese) was given by his first master Subodhi, meaning 'Aware-of-Vacuity'. He was also called Prilgrim, Great Sage Equal Of Heaven and the Protector of the Horses in other parts of this novel. But some of them were omitted in translated versions.(less)

I am a fan of the movie/TV adaptations of this story and wanted to read the original. Would it be better to start here or go straight to Anthony Yu's 4 volume translation?

There are two complete English translations, one by WJF Jenner, and another by Anthony C. Yu. Yu's has more added material (a long introduction and lots of scholarly footnotes to explain historical and cultural context). Both of these are over 2,000 pages!

In addition, there are many abridgements, including the classic one by Arthur Waley and a recent one with a modern vibe by Julia Lovell.
