This serie of Sci-fi books would be more interesting if there was better dialogues.....Example : The way that Geary and Rione are reacting/speaking to each other is not convincing at all. Behavior/reactions look so childish. The story would be a lot more convincing with more adult/professional behavior. Don't forget, Geary is a military, Rione also a seasonned and experienced woman. Though to endure. Sorry ?

Is this it's own universe? i.e. it's not a spinoff of the Honor Harrington series or anything like that?

What do you think, from what age this book can be read by children? Would it be ok for my nephew who read (and loved) Philip Pullman and Rick Riordan a year ago?

Steffen Should be good if he is 12 or above. There are some romantic plot lines, but the series does not have a lot of explicit sex or gore. Shiny heroes.

I have ALL of Campbell's Lost Fleet series as well as the spin off series. No doubt every series of this type has failings, for instance Campbell's marriage to sub-light technology and jump gates, however I'm a veteran nautical fiction fan, Hornblower and its emulators. Thus, anything with ships blowing each other up is ok by me. The problem is FINDING such series that I've NOT read. Recommendations anyone?

Itâ€™s often described as â€œHornblower in Spaceâ€�, the battles are vivid, and I found its worldbuilding and characters much stronger than those in Lost Fleet.(less)

Geary explains to co-President Rione that it's standard convention to call "starboard" and "port" not sides of a ship, but sides in relation to the system's star. Does the author call the sides of ships just "left" and "right" then? (I couldn't tell from the first book since the major battle in that one is very top- and bottom-focused rather than sides-focused.)
