I am a teacher and and Christian. It was on our school bookshelf and just read it. It’s beautiful literature for one so will teach children what good writing looks like. But it also teaches about morals and values and poses some difficult questions about stealing etc. but it’s done in a simple yet creative way. It teaches about the importance of love and forgiveness and passing judgement on people we do not know. It speaks to helping people who are less fortunate than we are and paying attention to the world around us rather than getting caught up in ourselves. When we do, we not only help someone else, but enrich our own lives as well. It’s also a book about survival and perseverance. Just when you think you can’t go on something happens that inspires you to keep moving forward. And most importantly it’s about family and the importance of sticking together and accepting each other’s flaws. It also comes with a teacher’s guide. It’s a much better book than Twilight that’s for sure!!! I recommend reading it. You won’t be disappointed. (less)
