Is Monster a true story?

Anlia Bolinger I was dating Debra's son, when she was with Tom. It is scary to know that this monster gave me rides home after I was done visiting with my bf. I was â€¦m´Ç°ù±ðI was dating Debra's son, when she was with Tom. It is scary to know that this monster gave me rides home after I was done visiting with my bf. I was only 15 at the time, and it chills me to have been that close to a monster. Deb was never nice btw, she is a nasty women and her own son wants nothing to do with her for many other reasons, not just this situation. (less)

I'm almost finished with this book, and so far only one thing seems to be in error. In it, Jackson wrote that Cher Elder was in the news protesting the Purdy school board's fight against a prom in 1989. He said that this case was the basis for the movie Footloose. The thing is, Footloose came out in 1984, 5 years before the Purdy case....and when Cher Elder was still in grade school. Explantation?
