I'm in the military too and even question what we do. I would suggest for you to look up The Most Dangerous Superstition by Larken Rose, voluntarism, The Dollar Vigilante, and read The Creature from Jekyll Island. They go over those concepts. There's also a town in mexico that kicked out politicians and government and have little to no crime without the use of force. There's also a new country called Liberland that will be the first experiment with little to no government or FORCE used to influence people. Just voluntary transactions. I hope that helps.
