Anyone else here because of David Sedaris?

Barbara Silver Saw him in Davis, CA last year. He recommended the book so I bought it but didn't pick it up to read until about 10 days ago. why do you think the Author made Eileen so unlikable?

Genny I think it is less unlikeable and more that we as a reader are laid bare the entire of her insecurity. I don't think you'd dislike an Eileen so much iâ€¦m´Ç°ù±ðI think it is less unlikeable and more that we as a reader are laid bare the entire of her insecurity. I don't think you'd dislike an Eileen so much in real life because they'd be hiding their thoughts behind a death mask just like Eileen does. It's only because we see her for who she truly is that we think she is unlikeable, which is probably true for nearly every human in the world. We don't like to see it reflected back on us.(less)

Can someone explain what the deer meant? That seemed to be significant but I can't figure out why. Was it God?

Janet M I think the deer was just that, a deer. And she almost hit it but was glad she didn't. Or maybe it was a sign that she was to make a miraculous change, which is what had to have happened that she wound up "getting married that spring". Aaack....*pulling my hair out* (yes it was time for the book to end, right?)
[Can you tell I am mad about the ambiguous ending?] Maybe if it were written in the 3rd person point of view (instead of Eileen's) we would know a lot more, huh?(less)
