Simon Pockley Both characters embody different truths. In my opinion one of the many dimensions of the book is the play between truth and lies. Tom's inventions get鈥辞谤别Both characters embody different truths. In my opinion one of the many dimensions of the book is the play between truth and lies. Tom's inventions get in the way of purposeful action and are regarded as lies by the more practical Huck. But Huck constantly needs to lie to everyone (except Jim) in order to survive. He tries to lie to Jim but realises that Jim won't tolerate lies from him. As the book unwinds, the truth comes out, aided by visits from up and down the river of time...(less)
