What is the significance of the "...?" that punctuates the majority of Dixon's conversation?

Miroslaw Aleksander Dixon speaks in Geordie, so this is probably a mark of exaggerated up-speak and meter of speech (this is my somewhat-educated guess))

i know this book's reputation and award history and I love the author classics, but I'm just curious whether or not many people are reading and enjoying the recent Pynchons (since Vineland). What do you all think?

I am reading 'The Sot Weed Factor' but not loving it. This novel takes place during a similar era and setting--18th century Maryland. For those who may have read both, are the novels actually similar or does it end at the era and setting?
