Ok, sorry for the obvious question - but is there enjoyment to be had from this novel if you have only a surface-level understanding of chess? i.e. I can point out the rook 'n' bishop and how they move but can't tell you a starting play for the life of me!

What is the age rating for this book?

Bernadette Matthews I don't think age matters. if you have a child who can be a child chess prodigy at 7 years old for instance. all that matters is it's something someboâ€¦m´Ç°ù±ðI don't think age matters. if you have a child who can be a child chess prodigy at 7 years old for instance. all that matters is it's something somebody whatever their age wants to read and can read.

Even a young person, reading it with not full comprehension , can return it to it later in their lives and review it from changing perspectives.
