How far do you have to read before you understand who the characters are, and what they have to do with the story? I have to admit I am so confused. A year-old toddler, a 17-year-old -- are they related? Fathered by the same man? I do wish the author had signposted the people -- he is such and such, she is such and such, and so forth. As it is I am trying to work it out for myself and getting irritated.

What is the significance of the title, â€˜Exilesâ€�?

Bek Wight It makes a reference in the book to Kim (the woman who is missing) feeling exiled and it explains why in the book.

This is listed as Aaron Falk #3. Does one have to read the first two before this one?

Arlene Rawlinson Although there are references to event that occurred in "The Dry", "Exiles" can be read as a stand alone. However, "The Dry" is an excellent book so iâ€¦m´Ç°ù±ðAlthough there are references to event that occurred in "The Dry", "Exiles" can be read as a stand alone. However, "The Dry" is an excellent book so if you haven't read it, pick it up!(less)

Judith Falk's still single & only took a one-year leave of absence from his job, so he's not ruling out a return to police work, &/or getting involved in anoâ€¦m´Ç°ù±ðFalk's still single & only took a one-year leave of absence from his job, so he's not ruling out a return to police work, &/or getting involved in another mystery in this new setting in some capacity.
