I should rate this but I’m not going to. I was really looking forward to this regardless of my struggles with the author. She’s a big hit or miss with more misses BUT the books always sound soo good!

What killed this one for me was the ridiculous oversights. It wasn’t fully explained how Ella managed to turn everyone against Staci and it was a sever oversight on the authors side about how easy it was to prove that Staci was innocent. All that had to happen was for people to see her back? Somehow, two of the guys had sex with her and ran their hands over her back and never felt the scars that were apparently so noticeable that everyone in a ballroom could see them? She danced and spent time at the ball and no one noticed her back in what seemed to be a backless dress until she was on the podium turning around to show them - no mention of her taking off a coat or anything…just “bam! Look at my scars! Supposedly Ella was abused for years at Staci’s hands but had no trauma not scars/marks of any kind. No one even bothered to question her story?

The guys behavior, the mothers ring, and multiple other things that just were not explained better or clearer or even within the realm of an actual possibility took all enjoyment from the story.

Quite frankly, I’m being nice by calling it an oversight when it really was the author being lazy and proving no realistic backstory to justify any of the characters actions.

Right I can’t lie I did not enjoy this one as much as the first one. But I still liked it.

Loved the enemies to lovers of course, and the angry confessions, angry love confessions are just the best.

The smut was okay, and the romance was top tier. Although some scenes had me really struggling to imagine because I felt like it could have been described better.

The plot was a nod for me, I mean it’s obviously going to be guessable because it’s a modern day retelling of Cinderella, I did actually enjoy it.

Not my fav but not my least fav. I feel like a lot more could have been done. The ending was good though, mainly because we got Zella from the first book so I was screaming.

Did love the love interests, why choose is one of my favourite tropes.

I really enjoyed this in the beginning but as the story went on, I lost interest. The remaining 75% of the book seemed super rushed and thrown together. I also don't feel as if the MMC's groveled nearly enough for what they put the FMC through. Just my opinion 🤷🏼‍♀

I will never get enough. I knew it, knew it from the first touch of her lips on mine that I would be lost to her.
I told her that I wanted to own her.
But it has always been the other way around.

I loved this dark retelling of the Cinderella story we’ve all grown up with.

Evelyn knows how to get our emotions up! I ached while reading Stasi’s POVs and was so furious at the men for their bullying.

I agree with other reviewers that there were some plot points that felt rushed - I would have liked to see more groveling from the brothers, especially after the absolute hell they put Stasi through.

It’s a slower burn and mildly spicy why choose romance between Stasi and the Tate brothers.

This is a complete standalone that ends in a HEA (though I would almost classify it as a HFN).

Genre: Dark Fairytale Retelling
Tropes/Features: Cinderella retelling, friends to enemies to lovers, bully, grovel, the “ugly stepsister, three brothers, billionaires, virgin FMC, who did this to you?
POV: Multiple 1st Person POV
Relationship Type: Why choose, medium/slow burn, mildly spicy
Book Type/Ending: Standalone with HEA
TW/CW: Available in book

This was a great retelling of Cinderella and I was loving the angst, hurt, and longing of this story. Stasi was also feisty and her gave-no-fucks strength was also very endearing. Kit was also my favorite of the brothers. I would have rated this a lot higher had it not been the ending.

I seriously did not understand the purpose of the filler content. It made me think if this was written during COVID... It made absolutely no sense. It would have been better if those pages were used for Rafe to grovel.

It was an unsatisfying ending as well. What a waste.

This is a perfect angsty romance! The story immediately grabbed my attention, and I loved how this Cinderella retelling was a mash-up of Cinderella and her step-sister's tales. I love a good retelling and adore a villain's retelling that reframes their story to make the “good characters the real villains. I’m not usually a second-chance romance reader, but that trope really worked for this book. There was little I did not enjoy with this story, and even though there were some heavy emotional scenes, I found it to be an easy and quick read with how smooth the storytelling was. I’m excited to see how the rest of the series unfolds!

3/5! it was okay, wasn’t good but also wasn’t bad. I enjoyed Anastasia and Kits characters, can’t lie they’re lil cuties but Silas and Rafe were whatever, wasn’t interested in them as much as the other two.
LOVED THE RETELLING THO! Cinderella being the evil one HELL YES! i’ve read so many retelling of Cinderella being the victim -like the movie- so seeing the switch up was perfect.

A Cinderella-inspired fractured fairy tale with a RH twist. Stasi (short for Anastasia, not the Cold War era East German secret police) is the "ugly stepsister" publicly reviled for enslaving her stepsister Ella. Now she's been sentenced to twenty years of house arrest, working as the servant of the Tate brothers (not those Tates), three brothers who have a ten-year-old bone to pick with Stasi. Cue cruel mistreatment and stoic suffering! Because, you see, Stasi is innocent and it was Ella who enslaved her.

I liked that it was a single-volume RH with a reasonable number of men (I think more than three would be too much for a single vol), and that all the guys had POV chapters. I also love it when the big strong most Alpha guy Oooh, I love that. Stasi also has a shutdown "BSOD" moment, and I always enjoy that kind of drama.

But the ending felt rushed to me. I wanted more time and on-screen comeuppance for the baddie. And if all Stasi had to do The virus plotline seemed unnecessary. And then all of a sudden it's "one year later" time. Too quick!

I’m always down for a Cinderella retelling! This one was very different, as it focused mainly on the stepsister Anastasia, and Cinderella was the villain of the story. But I like when people get really creative with fairytale retellings, so I enjoyed that. While the main character was a bit of a Mary-Sue, that’s what I was craving. Sometimes I want a story where the FMC has done nothing wrong, but everyone is cruel to her and blames her for things she didn’t do, but she just accepts it and lets them, feeling defeated. Then she gets to be righteously angry when the truth comes out and everyone feels bad and apologizes. This story had tons of that and I loved it!

My only issue was, like with the last couple books I’ve read, the resolution. The issue with Cinderella is so big and insurmountable throughout the whole book, only to be resolved quickly in one evening. It kind of made Stasi’s prior treatment and acceptance feel stupid, if resolution was that easy. But ignoring that one plot point, I loved everything else. I do wish there’d been more scenes with her and the guys post-reconciliation. Each make-up scene with one of the guys was cute, but there weren’t enough of them.

Overall, recommend. I plan to go back now and read the first in the series. 100% not necessary for reading this one, but I liked this, so want to try the why choose Rapunzel retelling that came first.

This book has nooooo business being so good 😅 I started it after my kiddo went to sleep and stayed up way past my bedtime to finish it.

I have a hard time with the friends-to-enemies-to-l0vers trope sometimes. Sometimes it takes too long to get to the original fallout, sometimes there just isn’t a good balance between present day and flashback portions, etc. Glass did not have any of these problems. We get enough glimpses into the past and enough hints at the issues to move the story along nicely.

Stasi is a wonderful FMC who has gone through some very difficult times throughout her whole life. Despite that, even when she’s close to breaking, she keeps her head up and refuses to censor or soften her words. Not only does she get some petty revenge (my favorite kind) against the MMCs, there is also a decent level of groveling, which I feel fits the situation.

The spice is a slower burn, but this is a standalone and we do get some lovely, spicy scenes. I loved this book and it might be my new favorite Cinderella retelling 🥰

There wasn't a ton of romance in this one, or at least not clear cut Romance so if that's what your looking for this may not be for you.

Spoilers.

I liked that this want about Cinderella. To have a redo on this tale without having to hear the same story exactly was nice! I think however I get hung up on a couple things that knocked this down in rating.
1) the flashbacks. I wanted more, I think they were a useful plot device but we don't really learn much, feel much, or see much so they just fall flat.
2) this story at times felt disjointed. The bones are there but it felt patched together in some places
3) the romance. I don't really ask for high levels of romance but this book was 80 percent misunderstanding, 5 percent smut/groveling and honestly I'm not sure Bout the rest.

Now why three stars you ask with such big issues with the book? The way it hurt to read it. Stasi's story is so sad, and the way she is treated by everyone puts an ache in your chest. That level of pull and emotion is why this book gets at least the 3 rating from me.

Anastasia, or Stasi, is accused of modern day slavery charges by her sister, Ella, “Cinderella, who is engaged to the crown prince, Crispin. Poor Stasi really got sentenced a harsh punishment, going to serve under the boys she knew and loved, who now hate her, for twenty years. The way the Tate brothers treated Stasi truly made me feel ill and made me tear up a bit. But that’s how you know Evelyn Floods writing is wonderful, with the emotions she makes you feel for her characters. This was so incredibly written, and I really enjoyed the story. The groveling was well done, converting all the brothers put Stasi through. I definitely recommend, but please check trigger warnings before reading.

Cinderella on roids

Let me just say - this book was an excellent read, really enjoyed the heartbreak and the angst and the way it was written and portrayed was really consuming - would I read it again yes.

However, the heartbreak and bullying was not on part with the (non existent) grovelling that was done.

🎶 I'm so good at telling lies. That came from my mother's side. Told a million to survive 🎶

Anastasia Cooper (h) is the most hated woman in Sorelle. To avoid the modern slavery charges her scheming stepsister has falsely accused her of, Stasi retreats to a quiet life under house arrest, hoping to escape the relentless media frenzy. But what she didn’t expect were them—the Tate brothers, Kit, Rafe & Silas (H).

─── 。゚: THOUGHTS*. .*:☆゚. ───

Anastasia deserved so much better, and everyone just treated her like crap. She was mistreated for YEARS, constantly misunderstood, and honestly, she deserved to have a full-blown tantrum moment. That scene where she goes numb to her emotions? Ate down. I was waiting for her to let out some serious female rage and just scream, because seriously—how did she put up with all that? She took all the mistreatment and didn’t even defend herself sometimes. I was just like, baby, you deserve better . I don’t know how she did it, but honestly, I would’ve cracked YEARS ago. I love her, though, because she truly deserved the world. She needed love so badly over the years, and she never got it—until the Tate brothers came in. But, of course, the sad part is that she thought they were coming to vouch for her, and nope, they just took her so she could serve them. They had me absolutely enraged because they treated her like total garbage as some punishment for something that wasn’t even her fault. Like, miscommunication tropes ruin lives, people!!! At least they gave her a check at the end for all her work, though. PERIOD . And honestly, that’s still not enough. Keep that money coming, because she deserves so much more.

[Kit]

“You’re going to break her, Kit says softly. “She’s not a machine, Silas. What will you do then?

“It won’t hurt her to do some work for a change. Have you forgotten what she did to her stepsister?

“Are you sure about what happened there? Because I’m not.

Kit was everything. He had a soft spot for her and called out the others when they were being unnecessarily cruel to her. He was the one who asked her for the truth—her version of it—and actually believed her. He didn’t second-guess her or doubt her for a second. He’s her number one defender, no question. He knows the kind of person she is, and that’s who he fell for. KIT IS MY BABY FR FR. He treated her the best because he heard her truth, accepted it, and stood by it. He never doubted her, took care of her, and was kind. He knew the others were totally WRONG for how they treated her, but sadly, he had to stand by because those were his brothers. I feel like he should’ve pressed them more, but it’s clear he was doing the best he could with the situation. Kit was her personal cheerleader, always standing on business when it came to her. He showed up for her when no one else did, and that made him extra loveable.

[Rafe]

“I might have… He swallows. “I made a joke. About her sharing my bed. And she took it badly.

“Because she doesn’t have a fucking bed of her own, I say finally. My voice feels hoarse. “Because she’s sleeping on a rock-solid floor every night, and you insinuated that she could what? Earn more by fucking you?

Oh, Rafe definitely knew he messed up when he insinuated that she could get better treatment if she was with him. That was so degrading to her, and honestly, I was cringing for her in that moment. But, low-key, it ended up being a turning point. As messed up as it was, it pushed the others to treat her better. So, I guess it’s a win in the end, even if it came from a seriously wrong comment. Rafe might’ve said the wrong thing, but at least it sparked the change they needed to start respecting her. The thing with him is, he kept saying and doing the wrong things, and he felt like he had no real chance with her. He even encouraged Silas to make her prove herself because they didn’t trust her version of the truth. There were definitely moments where I was so disappointed in him, but then there were others where he actually showed up for her. And despite everything, when he got sick, she still took care of him—even when he did all that to her. She cared for him, even when she tried not to. Honestly, I hate that I love them both.

[Silas]

“Are you happy now, Silas?

“I told you, I force out through the grip tightening around my throat. “I said that this would break her. And I was right.

SILAS. He was so harsh on her. He hated her just because she left him in the past, even though he knew the truth—that she regretted what happened and made things right. He kicked her out with nothing and treated her so badly, but for what? What did she do to him? She was the one who was wronged, and he acted like she needed to be punished for it. Honestly, I feel like Stasi had every right to snap because of how he treated her. He was the one who pushed her away in the first place. 😔😕 I know he carried a lot of regret over the years, but that didn’t excuse how he treated her, especially when he was still angry about her not trusting him enough to tell him about her mom. What really frustrated me, though, was that he still needed to know the truth and didn’t believe her right away. I get that he wanted answers, but it hurt because she deserved so much better than that. And honestly? I’m lowkey mad because he was the one who got to marry her. POTATO POTATO. It should’ve been Kit!!!

─── 。゚: OVERALL*. .*:☆゚. ───

They were definitely mean, but honestly, the drama was good. I loved how, even though they were cruel at first, they came through to protect her when she really needed it. I can’t help it—I love a good damsel in distress trope. Don’t come for me! 😅 But seriously, the way they stepped up for her in the end was top tier. It hit all the right notes, and I was here for it.

This was a weird one. The premise was pretty weak and there were some obvious plot holes, but the angst made up for it. It started off pretty strong, but it kind of felt like the author just gave up halfway through and tried to wrap everything up as fast as possible. The ending was jarringly abrupt. I also felt like I could never really get a grasp of the time period. At first I thought it was a historical/fantasy setting like in Cinderella. Then the descriptions started mentioning things like wearing jeans and using phones, but I still couldn’t picture it in a modern setting.

I loved the twist on this!

My heart hurt quite a bit while reading this. Everyone was so against her without asking her side of the story 😩 it was beautifully woven with past memories and moments where they perfectly correlated with the present. I also loved that Stasia held onto her snark throughout it all.

I wasn’t sure how this was going to end, especially with the couple of chapters where NOTHING was going right. And while it felt a bit rushed, I did enjoy how this played out.

I love Evelyn’s way of twisting classics to fit modern times, I will always look forward to the next retelling. 🖤

I was going to be extremely generous and give this 2 stars but then I realized how stupid this girl is. She had proof of Ella hurting her the whole time and then said nothing. Even if people would not listen to her she didn’t actually need words all the dumb girl needed to do was show the scars on her back they would not even need words they have eyes.

She kept saying she tried to defend herself but no she didn’t is she was smart she would have just ripped her her shirt in the throne room to show her scars when they were sentencing her she is so dumb and this book was so very disappointing. Even chained she can scream look at my back what a dumb girl for never saying anything!

Forget pride forget modesty when your about to be sentenced to execution you dumb girl!

RH with 3 Hs that were kind of the h's stepbrothers about 10 years previously. A bit of a take on Cinderella.

h's current step sister has been very abusive (physically and mentally). SS is to be married to the crown prince and uses that power to try and get h executed based upon lies SS has said. In lieu of execution, crown prince sentences h to 20 home imprisonment. This sentence will be served with aforementioned 3 Hs with the expectation there will be true punishment.

Grovel = the 3 Hs all contribute to being cruel to h, going beyond punishment and toward torture. Cue the need to grovel for the things done/said to the h. Did the h roll over and take it? No, but in the situation she was in, it was difficult to think there was more she could have held out for. For the sake of storytelling, I felt there was grovel and though not drawn out, it was good.

OW drama = the evil SS causes many issues for the h, she gets her comeuppance which was satisfying.

She did it again! This book was fantastic. It was exactly what I didn’t know I needed. I loved A Murder of Crows so much that I had such high hopes for this book. I was not disappointed. This Cinderella retelling was so good! Not only in spice but in plot as well. Although I was sobbing through chapter 39, the heartache was completely worth it! The character development, the plot twist, the men, ugh! If you’ve never read one of Evelyn’s books and are looking for a steamy Why Choose, this is it! It took me less than 24 hours to devour this book. I cannot wait for the next in her Fairytale Retelling series!

EMOTIONAL!

I have never, NEVER cried as much as I did for the entirety of a book as I did for Glass. I had a pain in my chest from start to finish and was crying from the emotions that Evelyn Flood tore from me with her words. I loved Glass so much, I finished it within 2 hours as the story dragged me into its depths, and I was a willing victim. My only complaint is that the spicy scene with Rafe was extremely short and not what we got with Silas and Kit. Evelyn has gained a reader, and I look forward to reading more of her work.

I read this in one sitting!! I was hooked at the beginning and it completely tips the cinderella story tale on its head which I loved. It switches from past to present and you get POVs from all the main characters. There’s three love interests and all the relationships definitely have a good back story, I just wanted a bit more from the present day romance something was missing and those men did NOT grovel enough for the shit they put her through. The plot development in the last 85% completely threw me off and was so unnecessary but overall I had a fun time.

I really did enjoy this book! I got a little confused on like, if it was supposed to be based in mid evil times or in present times. Some scenes felt straight out of a period romance, but then phones and guns were thrown in. So with the confusion I knocked it down to a 4/5 instead of 5. But overall, I enjoyed the characters and the story.
