Fakat onu kollarının arasına aldığı an engelleyemediği duygulara kapılır ve birdenbire her şey değişir.

Birbirlerine karşı hissettikleri dayanılmaz cazibe kesinlikle yasalara aykırıdır ve Jacob'ın o ana dek inandığı her şey arzuların alevinde hızla yanıp kül olacaktır.
Gece başlasın!..

I just cannot take it any longer! Maybe it was unfair that I gave the ending 1 star but I wouldn't know because I never made it there. This book just bugged me so much in every way. I love the paranormal romance genre, that and dystopias are what get me going book-wise; so I was thinking this would be another to add to the list: , , , etc, etc. I even ignored the terrible Mills & Boon style cover and pretended it didn't offend my eyes because some great books have effin' lousy covers.

Warning bells should probably have started ringing about the time I realised the (so-called) heroine was named none other than Bella, and the (so-called) dark and sexy Jacob (yes, that's right... now where's Edward?) had a bloody ponytail - I mean, what? You can count on one hand how many men can get away with that look. Like Josh Holloway in Lost *sigh* And then, of course, the first time they meet he's swooping in to save her. Oh damn that cliche! I hate damsels in distress, especially seeing as her 'distress' was falling out of a window head first - is this woman a complete idiot?

The characters were less than engaging, to put it mildly. I found myself not giving a damn whether they lived, died or slept together. But, yes, I was anxiously anticipating that last part, surely the worst book can be pulled up to 2 stars with some decent smut. However, just like a Mills and Boon novel, she was your typical virginal (and seriously annoying) heroine and he was the big bad demon trying to resist temptation because of her sweet, innocent, pure... give it a rest, I was sick of hearing how Bella was the next Virgin Mary - get it on, already! Jacob's endless patronisation of her was aggravating as well, why did he have to call her "little flower" every time they spoke, it wasn't cute it was just cringy.

If you haven't worked it out yet... I didn't like this book. Will not bother with the rest of the series. Thank you.

*Spoilers*

So this is my first Jacquelyn Frank book. I have put off starting this series for a while now because, a lot of my friends have had mixed reviews about it. I really Enjoyed it! Now I am ready for more...

This book is about Jacob a 700 year old demon. The Enforcer for his people, it is his job to uphold the ancient law that forbids demons to mate humans. A job that leaves him isolated and very lonely. He has never felt the forbidden desires for humans or the curse of the moon like a lot of his people fall prey too. He is in total control at all times, until he meets bella.

Jacob:

I really loved Jacob's character. He was sexy, strong, overprotective, and a straight up bad ass! He was very funny and sweet with bella. The playfulness between him and bella was adorable... He is loyal, honorable, and respectful.

“You stole it, little thief, and socked it away inside you. I know you remember where it is, too. If you remember to that moment of hesitation, just before I touched that sweet spot that excites you so much

“When she is close, if she so much as looks at me from below her lashes, or if she smiles Noah could hear the distinct sound of the Enforcer’s back teeth grinding shortly against each other. “I no longer know myself. I no longer know what is right.

“You do not know the power you have, he uttered in a voice like rough sandpaper. “You are so beautiful. He reached to cup her face in his hand. “So soft and so warm. His fingers fanned out against her skin, sliding silkily over her cheek, chin, and throat. He inhaled through his nose, a long, purposeful breath. “And that. Your scent. It drives me mad.

Isabella:

I also loved Bella's character. She was so brave, smart and strong. Very playful and funny. She was understanding, caring, and sweet, but she was also Kick ass and sassy. She didn't let anyone walk on her or push her around. I love that she stood up to Jacob!

“My soul belongs with yours. Your heart belongs with mine. I feel this with every molecule of my being. I felt it the moment I saw some idiot walking down a dark street in the Bronx during the scariest hours of the night.

"Fine. I understand, she said with a little shrug, turning her head slightly so he couldn't see her eyes. “If it’s really that important to you, I’ll go have sex with a human male first. Then I’ll know what I’m talking about before I broach the matter with you again. Jacob felt the statement the same way he had felt the blast of Elijah’s intervention the first night he had touched her. It slammed into him with breathtaking brutality, destroying his sense of direction and balance. Rage surged through him, turning his eyes into glistening black voids. The idea of another man touching that precious skin, kissing her sweet, delicious mouth, was more than he could stand. What she was suggesting this time was too much. Beyond too much. “Over my dead body over my obliterated soul will I ever allow such a thing.

“And, let me tell you this, Jacob. If I end up one of these Demon cops, some attitudes around here are going to change. You understand? It’s called public relations, and if the public doesn't start to relate to you with the proper respect real damn quick, they’re going to have to answer to me. I’m fed up with the way they treat you, just as I’m fed up with being referred to as ‘the human, as someone might refer to ‘the smallpox. Your people are stuck up, snobby, prejudiced dorks, and they need some serious lessons in manners.

Jacob and Bella as a couple are just hott! So much built up tension. Their chemistry was like POW! I was totally invested in their relationship. The story plot was good, and I found myself getting wrapped up into this new Paranormal world and couldn't put this book down. I love the secondary characters as much as the main and can't wait for their stories......

Their was only a few very little things that didn't work for me in this story that kept me from giving it a 5 star rating instead of a 4.5 and that is, there are a few lines in the story that were roll your eyes cheesy and The names Jacob and Bella. Every time I read those names I had Twilight flash backs.... other than that this book is great. Now I am on to the next book Gideon.

I really liked this book, but I can't give it more than 3 stars.

Pros
I love the new take on demons, on nightwalkers in general, turning them into an ancient race of honourable, magical beings who are only turned into hideous, slobbering, demonic fiends when summoned by human necromancers.

I'm a big fan of elemental magic - the five elements are usually earth, air, fire, water and spirit. Here, instead of spirit, it's mind and body. Each demon is master of one particular element. Jacob's is earth.

It was a nice change that relationships - of any kind, but especially the physical kind - are forbidden to the demons. Jacob's job is Enforcer for his people, preventing them from harming humans during the sexual madness brought on by the full moon. This makes his attraction to Bella something he has to resist, something to be afraid of. Forbidden love - nice.

I liked the new take on the soulmate thing that Christine Feehan made so popular. This one has history and logic behind it, and it's actually explained, which is refreshing.

The writing wasn't cheesy, the love scenes weren't tacky - a blessing.

Cons
It took me a while to get into it, and it took me longer to read than I expected. I generally read paranormal romance books in a day or two - this one took me at least four. The writing, while good, was ... heavy, somehow. It lacked a bit of flow. Jacob and Bella (yes, same names from Twilight, but very different characters so not really a distraction!) would be in the middle of some very intimate goings-ons when one of them would go off on a reflective tangent.

Bella's mannerisms were pretty annoying, as were the author's attempts to find new adjectives for describing the same motion: putting your hands on your hips. At one point she was thrusting her fists into her hips. Ugh. This gesture is used all the bloody time in romance to show that the heroine has a bit of attitude, and it's very tiring.

One of the other characters, Gideon (subject of the second book, which despite all this I want to read), is closely modelled off Feehan's Gregori. Is it so hard to be just a bit more original?

"Jacob," dedi usulca Isabella, "nasıl bundan emin olmayayım? Sen benim kaderimsin. Bana bunu bir kehanetin filan söylemesine gerek yok." Uzanıp parmaklarını hafifçe yüzünün çevresinde ve üstünde gezdirdi. "Ruhumun yeri senin yanın. Kalbinin yeri benim yanım. Varlığımın her parçasında hissediyorum bunu.

Her kitapta farklı karakterler başrolde.

"Bond. James Bond."

****

Gözlerini Isabella'ya çevirdi, göz bebekleri hafifçe küçüldü.
"Bir insan."
"Ah, yapma," diye çıkıştı Isabella, sanki vebalıymış gibi iblislerin bunu söylemesi canına tak etmişti. "Evet, insanım. Hemen birileri Jacob'a yardım etmezse bu insanın çok fena tepesi atacak!"
"New York'tan," diye ekledi Gideon.

...and it all started from falling out of a window.

Another new author to me and another crossed off my Want To Read list. I am really getting my monies worth with the Romance Package. Seriously, I'm not getting anything from Audible for saying that. I'm REALLY getting my monies worth. Obviously, they're not all brand spanking new releases, but it's almost better. I'm getting a chance to revisit old favourites and tackle my Want To Read list, finally.

I really enjoyed this paranormal romance and I will definitely go on in the series. The narrator does a great job, especially considering she has to use an accent for most of the characters. She does a great male voice and it was easy to tell when the characters changed. One little niggle was that she made Bella sound a little whiney at times.

Hmmmm...what's up next?

I listened to the audiobook of this one, so my review reflects that. I think an audio experience colors my opinions in a big way. The narrator is a pretty popular one. She did a great job, although her voice is a bit sweet on the female lead's parts. Her Croatian accent (I think they're Croatian) was amazing. Not one you hear regularly, so kudos to her for that. It really delineated the male characters.

I enjoyed this story, but honestly, it left me more interested in what is coming up for the rest of the Nightwalkers. Jacob was a sort of blah character for me...his emotions just didn't resonate all that often. And Isabella (Bella and Jacob...haha!) was too syrupy sweet at times. A little too perfect, she won all of the big baddies over way too easily. There was little to no conflict for her when she found out about this other race of beings. She literally accepted it within a few pages. There was just no angst, nothing stopping this romance from moving at a ridiculously fast clip. The timeline for the story is maybe a week? Less?

One of the reasons I love paranormal romance is that the protagonists tend to be 'fated and mated', which leaves little room for that angst. However, if they accept it like this and move on to other important matters, there is no wooing, no chase, no build up. And if there's no balance there, then it's hardly romance.

What was very enjoyable was the action, the series story arc and setup. Humans are the bad guys in this series, or at least humans who try to trap and enslave the Nightwalkers.

I think that perhaps this book suffered from first-in-a-series syndrome. There was a lot of explaining, a lot of setup, an introduction to the world and all of it's subsequent book's characters. So the action and the romance took a bit of a backseat. Still, Gideon and Noah are mighty interesting tough guys and I'm excited to get to their romances.

3.5 Stars.
Unfortunately, I wanted to put Isabella Russ in a headlock for most of the book. She goes down as top 5 most annoying heroines. Miss "Hand on the Hip" smart mouth. Does she really think she is the female Jackie Chan? Okay, a couple of males let you punch them, now you think you are Mike Tyson.
girl, go sit down on a ledge--and really fall down this time.
She wasn't even suave like Cat to be so mouthy. Jacob, I really liked, but I look forward to reading the books of Gideon, Elijah & Noah. those are the people I liked. I even want to read about Kane and Corrine too. Isabella, however, I would be willing to pay a necromancer to summon her butt, though I know it wouldn't work.

The book that made me create a shelf for "gal I hated/annoyed me to no end" or something along the lines. The heroes, the nightwalkers were ok likeable characters, but the heroine, oh my god, the heroine..I have never read such an annoying character before. It's safe to say that she's ruined the whole book for me and even though I wonder about the other guys I'm kinda afraid of their females turning out to be just like this one. She was a cocky, extremely childish little brat that kept on snapping at people for no reason. She was also very very selfish, even though the hero keeps thinking how selfless she is which made me go "WTF" all the time. The only way I can picture her in my head is as a grown girl with hair like pippi langstrumpf except brown and thick apparently, who keeps shoving her fists on her hips and her tongue out to people.

There are way too many adjectives to describe emotions and whatnot which sucked the hot out of the love scenes in my opinion. The dialogues, especially the ones between the hero and the heroine, don't make sense most of the time. The story evolves so fast that you don't get to follow how it got there in the end. The heroine, who is a librarian, is apparently a way way fast reader than any other human or demon for that matter that she consumes a whole library with centuries old information in just a day or something? Not to mention she somehow discovers something very important in those books that the scholar Demon King, who's been writing and reading those for centuries, hasn't been able to see before. WTF. And then there's the issue of not using apostrphe at all. All I see is "I do not/I can not/ I did not/I must not" etc. I don't know, it bothered me.

I would want to know about the other guys maybe some day, but I know that day will have to wait until I don't have anything better to read.

I had a blast reading this book! Jacob (Nightwalkers series) isÌýa fun, sexy, charming, fascinating, and highly captivating read. I fell in love with the hero and heroine, Jacob and Bella, right from the start.Ìý

Jacob stole my heart. He was funny, sweet, fierce, domineering, and extremely loyal. It was impossible not to love him.ÌýBella was an extremely strong and determined heroine, while still remaining feminine with a touch of vulnerability. At times she did get on my nerves (putting her hands on her hips and stomping her foot got old fast), but not enough to ruin her character for me.Ìý

The secondary characters were delightful. They were fresh, well developed, and just as engaging as the main protagonists.ÌýI look forward to reading theirÌýstories.Ìý

I needed this fun and entertaining book! I look forward to continuing the series.Ìý

Jacob (Book 1 of The Nightwalkers Series) by Jacquelyn Frank is a better than delightful romantic treat in the world of paranormal. Deliciously sensual ground shaking love and Demons like you have never seen before encompass this book with an elemental frenzy.

Jacob is young for his six hundred years and every bit the professional when it comes to his job. Being an immortal Demon does have it's drawbacks and it's up to Jacob as The Enforcer to make sure that things go as they should and if a law is broken he is the one to track down and punish the guilty party. An amazing male of his species he is graceful, quiet, extremely handsome and about to get the shock of his life.

Isabella is a petite brunette with the most silky long dark hair that just begs to have your fingers run through it. A delightful little beauty who is kind as the day is long, smart as a whip and packs a mighty punch, she is every bit the match for Jacob. Born human with the normal human life she is stunned beyond words when her life goes topsy turvie and she discovers the real truth about her heritage.

Our story starts us out in a period of unrest and upset during the Druid time of Samhain and a few days before the full moon. A time when the Demon's worst nightmares can come true as necromancer's ply their magic by summoning Demon's to them. A time when a Demon can go from looking totally human to becoming a hideous beast. A time when a intelligent caring mind can be turned into a completely different personality with only two thoughts left, self preservation and sex.

What was thought long ago lost to the Demon race has reappeared. What was once thought of as their destruction is now their salvation. Those who the Demon race thought they had rid the world of have come back again but now as a race of halfbreeds. A thousand years have passed since the great war and it has taken that long for the bloodline of our halfbreeds to become potent enough to make itself known.

Our author has given us an extremely rich tale of love, lust, nightmares, purity, pain and terror. She has given us a race who considers itself supreme over humans only to have the rude awakening of having a door slammed in their face as they realize their mistakes. She has given us a tale of love coming from the most unlikely of places. A love that should be taboo. A love that will right the wrongs done to an innocent race oh so my years past. A realization of the harsh punishments that have been doled out to beings doing only what nature had meant them to do.

This is a luscious novel action packed and sure to keep you reading from beginning to end while sitting on the edge of your seat.

Opening Line:"How ridiculously simple it would be to cause them harm."

Jacob is the Demon enforcer for his people. His responsibility for the past 700 years has been to protect the human population from fellow Nightwalkers who fall victim to the maddening Moonlust. He takes his duties as enforcer seriously and over the years has even had to punish close friends and family members when they stray too close to humans. Because of this Jacob has become feared within Demon society, now an involuntary loner. One night while hunting a rogue Demon, Jacob inadvertently rescues a woman after she falls from her apartment window, landing safely in his strong arms. The attraction between the two is immediate, he cannot let her go. Has Jacob himself fallen victim to Moonlust?

There's something strange about this raven haired nymph. Isabella's not just your average human, for within minutes of being rescued she senses something and runs into a warehouse. Jacob follows and is rendered helpless as she proceeds to kill a Necromancer (bad guy) while it practices the black arts. Jacob, unable to believe what he's seen puts Bella into a deep sleep and takes her back to his castle where he'll try to figure out what she really is. When Bella awakes she isn't at all scared, just excepting and curious about this new world she finds herself in. She's apparently really horny too despite the fact that she's a virgin (why are they always virgins?) The couple can't seem to keep their hands off each other, even though this little collaboration will mean certain death for Jacob. Just as the intense make-out session reaches a precipice it is rudely interrupted by the demon king Noah. He also assumes that Jacob has gone mad with lust. Now who will enforce the enforcer?

After some explanations, Bella proceeds to hang out in the Demon library learning about their rich culture as her psychic connection with Jacob and strange new powers inexplicably grow. Eventually Bella locates some ancient papers that will change the course of human and Demon destiny forever, and thankfully explain what she is becoming.

Jacquelyn Frank has created a very detailed and complex world with this first book in her Nightwalkers Series. And although I really enjoyed the initial chapters as well as the exciting and romantic final chapters, the middle section seemed to stall. As the author filled in pages and pages of Demon history, rules and culture while Jacob and Bella just hung out in the castle having telepathic phone sex in each others minds. I just wanted to get on with it, for SOMETHING to happen.

I also found Bella's character to be particularly annoying with her rolling eyes and silly quips. There were parts however that I loved and this is a good book, maybe just not great. It was nice to read a paranormal without Vampires and I appreciated the tightness and detail of Ms Frank's well written first novel. The secondary characters have also been well developed and left elusive enough for you to want to come back for another instalment. Cheers!

Really enjoyed this one! It was written quite awhile ago and I did not know what to expect. But I really liked the world and the characters. Jacob was broody, lonely and a bad ass. I loved Bella. She was a perfect match for him. I loved that she did not spend the entire book in denial or shock about demons or their mating.

I am not so sure about the next book since the hero pushed the heroine away almost 10 years ago. I am not sure I can get passed that. But I am going to try it since the entire series is on Hoopla!

3- 3.5 stars
I loooved Jacob, just not the whole book.
But I did like it. Quite a lot tbh.

First off, I have to admit that I don't read fantasy simply because it's just not my jam. The Twilight fiasco has knocked this idea out of my head completely and so this book was my attempt to step out of my comfort zone. And I am positively surprised because I actually liked it more than I thought I would.

What was the best here? Well, that would be Jacob. He was my absolute favourite.
I love me some loner hero, especially one who is a bit broody and feeling the repercussions of his isolation. And that is Jacob when he meets Bella. He wants her, feels the connection but knows he can't have her simply because it's against the law for a demon to get involved with a human. And he is the law. The Enforcer. And that part, ladies and gents, melted my cold heart. Together with my knickers, lol.

I quite liked Bella, she is a feisty lil thing. She did lack some layers and depth as a character but she was likeable nonetheless. A big plus for the turn of events when it comes to her heritage. I liked it.
Also, I loved this whole demon world. I really liked the rules they had, their customs, their different roles and magical powers, and most of all, their inner peace and poise. I think Gideon is my fave. :)

However, there were a couple of things that bugged the hell outta me and didn't allow me to enjoy this book more.

First of all, my biggest 'but' here will be the style of writing.
I didn't like it. It was weird and confusing. And before you throw raw eggs at me, I must add that I do know that fantasy fiction has a lot of world building and the style differs from contemporary. I do know all of that. Here, however, we have a weird mixture of some big ass fancy words with a lot of cliche similes and tropes. That made the reading process really hard.

What is more, the second I read that Jacob and Bella are the characters, I was immediately reminded of that Twilight embarrassment and yeah, I just couldn't unsee it afterwards.

All in all, I liked it. If you look for a hero who worships the heroine and the ground she walks on, this book is it. And I truly loved that part, how all the feelings started waking up in Jacob. I will definitely read Kane's and Gideon's books because I loved their characters the most. And maybe Noah's too. I just hope that the writing style will be better because normally a book this length takes me 1 evening, sometimes 2. This one took me 4 days. I just couldn't dive completely into it.
Hence the missing star.

SUMMARY (50 words or less)
This series starts off with world building surrounding demons. But don’t think Hell demons. No, this series takes the word and uses it for a race that’s nothing like the interpretation you may have now. This beings are virtuous, not villainous. I did enjoy this one a lot.

Audio Review
Xe Sands did a great job. I admit at first hearing, I wasn’t impressed with the sound of her voice. But honestly, it really worked. She did a great job and making Jacob sound irresistible.

This review is for the audiobook version of Jacob, narrated by Xe Sands.

Warning: this review contains blatant preconceptions about the PNR genre, lots of exclamation points, phrases entirely in capital letters, some commentary on the sexy bits of the book, and a little bit of tongue-in-cheek. No offense intended if I insult your favorite book ever.

I am tempted to give this one a 4 star rating but my rational brain might make me stick to 3. I may even come back and change it after some thought.

In my usual repertoire of listens, this was the chocolate sunday of audiobooks and it was exactly what I was in the mood for (cue Barry White soundtrack). Quite frankly, and for reasons best left to the nebulous regions of my hind-brain, this book made me a little giddy (that’s not a euphemism). I’ve read a decent amount of PNR and while there are series I love, I have found a large portion of it to be not to my taste in terms of characterizations (Carpathians, I am looking at YOU!). I skipped reading this book in hard copy but decided to give the audiobook version a shot and I really benefited from having someone else set the tone for the book rather than letting my brain apply its own prejudices.

This book was a lot of fun. Yeah, I did get some of what I was expecting (She’s a virgin! He’s a beast inside and must stay away from her! They are destined to be mates! The sudden appearance of super healing power and ninja skills! And OMG, he calls her LITTLE FLOWER ALL THE TIME (at least it wasn’t “little one). Rationally, I can recognize the absurdity of a plot where a librarian accidentally finds herself falling out a window, killing a demon, and being swept away to a castle where, given immediate access to the ancient archive of demon scrolls and texts, she is suddenly able to read Demonese and interpret the great prophecy the king has been laboring over. You know what? My rational brain can take a hike because this book was amusing, sweet in spots (I think it gave me a cavity), and oh, yeah, smokin hot sexy. About the only thing this book turned off was my rational brain.

The writing, while not purple of prose was occasionally a bit florid but often quite well phrased and the humorous banter sprinkled throughout was absolutely delightful. The relationship between Jacob and Isabella was endearing, the heroine had more backbone that I expected, and I love the combination of humor and heat in the bedroom…or the library, or the forest, or the.

The narration was straightforward and not over dramatic, which had the effect of sending my narrow mind to its room and allowing me to immerse myself in the story, the delicious accents, the romance, and the world the author created. The characters were almost always easily distinguishable from each other in conversation and although Isabella had a very girlish voice, it suited her since the number of descriptions that label her or her actions as kittenish are significant and don’t even get me started on the number of times (and the variations with which) she puts her hands on her hips and occasionally even stamps her foot.

Even a few proofing/production issues such as the sound of a few page turns and a deep breath and my favorite mis-read ever “She rolled his eyes… (although they were in bed at the time so maybe) were only the most fleeting blips in my enjoyment of the narration.

This audiobook was total ear candy little nutritional value but delicious none-the-less.

A little different take on the paranormal world.

Jacob is a Demon who is the Enforcer of the Nightwalkers. he is centuries old and it is his job to make sure his species of Demons do not bother or chase after humans. This mainlky happens during 2 phases of the year, Samhaim (Autumn) and Beltran (Spring). Jacob is immune to forbidden desires and the curse of the full moon.
Isabella works as a Librairian in New York City. She lives in an apartment with her sister Corrine. One night while she is leaning out her window to look at the moon she falls out of the window and is caught by Jacob. Jacob is enthralled with Isabella, totally attracted to her. And there the story begins.

This is an ongoing story with other books in the series and I suggest that they are read in order for one leads into the other. Sorta like BlackDagger Brotherhood. But these books are totally unlike BDB in their composition and makeup.

There are more members of this demon species, Noah, their King, Gideon, the Ancient healer, Elijah, their warrior capitain, Magdelagna, a Body demon. THere are also different types of demons, Jacob is an Earth demon, Noah, a fire Demon, Elijah is an Air demon and so on.

You really have to get into this kind of reading. The stotylines is will plotted out and the characters are will conceived. I will have to read the rest of this series to really get an overall view of the storyline as a whole. But so far I am enjoying them

I'm surprised I liked this book, but I did - quite a lot. It's a soulmate-type paranormal romance, and I'm not a huge fan of "soulmate" romances, but this one really worked for me. The affection between the lead characters felt real, the humorous reparte had me laughing out loud a few times, and the 'verse was interesting - lots of fun special effect powers to learn about.

Basic plot: Demons are a hidden subculture of night creatures inhabiting our world. (There are also vampires and weres out there, but not in this book.) Demons are magically powerful, but normal people otherwise, who get married, have kids, and lead normal lives within their society. Only when a necromancer traps one of them and uses some nasty spells on them do they become the horrible demons of legend.

Jacob's job is Enforcer - he keeps demons from falling in love with/seducing humans, because demons are so strong, they would likely kill a human if they mated. Only, Jacob falls for a human with some freaky special powers of her own. I can't tell you why she is different, because that would spoil the mystery of the first half of the book, but they do end up happy together.

I would recommend this book to those who like paranormal romance, but if you don't like that genre, stay away. I don't think this book has general-reader crossover appeal.

Re-read by audiobook. I also have the paperback. At first I didn't care for Xe Sands' narration much but she definitely got better. The problem is though that scenes from the book that I found unforgettable - him hiding around a corner just to be near her and him falling asleep with his nose at her neck so he could smell her all night - were just read through quickly and I almost missed them. I'll keep the rating the same because I did enjoy the book.

06/16/10 previous reviewThis book started out pretty stilted with all their formal language I was wondering whether I would last, but then the book turned around and I really, really enjoyed it.
Isabella literally falls (from a window) for Jacob. She ends up being a part Druid and starts helping Jacob, a Demon, right off the bat. Throw in some horrible necromancers with some surprised friends of Jacob and their attraction. Isabella's funny and I love the way she talks to everyone like a normal person would. The ending was very sweet. I've read a few of Ms. Frank's books and with the exception of one have enjoyed them all. Would recommend this book.

This book started out a bit slow for me and therefore took me longer to read, but it eventually picked up and I thought it was great.

I loved Jacob; he was strong, sexy, powerful, loyal, funny, loving, patient, determined. I loved his first encounter with Isabella when they were talking and she fell out of the window. It was hilarious how crazy possessive he got when Bella saw Noah in only shorts or when other men touched her. Their mind conversations were very cool, also.

Isabella was an interesting female; she was calm, powerful, reasonable, funny. I love how she is the only one who is able to calm Jacob and make him see reason. Her powers are wicked cool, totally boss. I mean, the woman can drain the powers of everyone around her.

I absolutely loved Elijah, Noah, and Gideon, and I look forward to reading their books.

I love that the book started with Kane and Corrine's first encounter and that they ended up being mates, and I totally knew they would be. I mean, as soon as they started talking about Druid/Demon Imprinting, I knew Kane and Corrine were mates also. I hope to see more of them, whether they have their own book or just continually show up in the others' books.

Also, I found it highly ironic that both the sisters and brothers found their mates on the same night.

1st book in this series... that I still think is the best one after all these years.. Jacob and Bella set the stage beautifully for this explosive series. I first read this book in early 2007. This re-visit has been a wonderful walk down memory lane. Cause I remember where I was mentally and emotionally when I first opened this book all those years ago. And this book got me back into reading big time. Which was something that I hadn't done in years up until that moment.. How I walked away from my first love (reading)..shameful. but I will be forever grateful that this book, on that cloudy January day all those years ago, brought me back.🖤

This is an awesome read and entertaining take on the myths and legends of Demons, Spirituality, Love, Honor and Hope.. I love this series. But book 1 will forever be my favorite 💛

I started this book thinking that I would like it, but I never expected to found another awesome series. This book was so good that I couldn't stop with it until it was over.

I loved this book. The bond between Bella and Jacob was so strong and sweet that I felt like sentimental the whole time I was reading this book.

And this new world of druids and Demonds! so good.
Also I felt like I wanted to know more about the other characters. I loved this book and I can't wait to read the nexts. If you have this book on your TBR pile swith it to currently reading . LOL

This book was surprisingly cute. Considering it's about demons and all that. I had no idea what I was going into reading this book, but I can honestly say that I was surprised.

The main characters were very sweet and the heroine is super funny with a laid back kind of attitude that makes you like her almost instantly.

The other characters were also nice and I am looking forward to get to know them better.

Die Vergleiche waren oft recht seltsam ("He opened instantly for the aggressive sweep of her tongue, groaning low in his soul as she fluttered like a soft, sensual butterfly within his mouth.").

Höhepunkt: ..."... a heady flavor that sang like sensual music through her senses".

Danke, Ms. Frank!

I'd heard so many great things about this series so I bought the first 3 books without thinking twice - BIG MISTAKE!!! This book was terrible. The first book I have ever read that was so bad I could not even finish it. I knew it was over when Isabella meets Jacob for the first time by falling out of the window of her apartment into his arms - just plain stupid!!! But I kept on reading, I paid for these books dammit, it just had to get better!!! Wrong!!!
Ms. Frank's writing style is simply boring, it was like reading a dictionary. I gave the book 178 pages and stopped reading right BEFORE the couple had sex for the first time!! I live for the lovin', but it was such a passionless build up, at that point I truly didn't care.
I keep telling myself that maybe one day I'll try reading it again, but for now this one just didn't work for me.

I can't believe I bought this TWICE!! Paperback years ago and eBook recently

I was really liking this in the beginning but then around 20% I hit a road block. I kept pushing forward because the sexual tension was crazy, hot and I was really liking the concept of the story. Then the author's writing started driving me crazy!!! There was all this "telling" and not "showing" and the adjective overuse and eye-rolling metaphors were gagging me. At 32% I finally had enough when I got to this:
"Her mouth was warm and lush, like a Brazilian jungle"
