I love this bonus edition of . It's a short story that starts exactly where Torn ends up. The beautiful thing about this short story is the POVs of the three swoony male characters who made such a remarkable impact to Wendy's life: Finn, Tove, and Loki. My favorite POV, of course, is Loki's because his voice is the most interesting among the three. He's the character that I'm really rooting for Wendy. I also love Tove's POV but nothing can compete my Loki. Finn? Um, never mind. :-/
This short story is well-written that's why I'm giving it 5 stars! :)
I loved this! It was so interesting to see the different perspectives from our three main dudes. Finn’s was pretty boring, but Tove and Loki’s snippets were really enjoyable.
One Day: Three Ways is a short little read giving a look at life in the Trylle world from perspectives other than Wendy. Were it not for the fact this story was included in the combined edition of the trilogy I own, I doubt I would have read this story. In truth, I was disappointed with the first book and had to force myself to read the second. Add in the fact I’m not the biggest lover of short stories anyway and there was very little leaving me willing to read this.
Still, as it was a short read and it was included between the pages of books two and three in the combined edition, I decided to mirror the way I felt towards the short story placed between books one and two by saying ‘screw it and reading it.
In truth, The Vittra Attacks, the short story that sat between books one and two, was a rounded down one-point-five-star read. With One Day: Three Ways, however, we have a short story that is a solid one-star rating. There was potential with this one, there was the chance to see three interesting perspectives to add more to each of the characters and their storylines, yet it failed to hit the mark. In fact, I feel as though it was a handful of pages that did nothing for me. I could have easily skipped this story and I would have been perfectly fine.
Honestly, I think a lot of it boils down to how I expected much more from this series than I was given. As I’m not invested at all, the short stories are even harder for me to enjoy than the main books.
This was honestly an important mini story for me because it solidified my hatred for Finn. Bro admits he doesn’t even know why he liked her and doesn’t say a single nice thing about her lol. Loki is the best comic relief and I’m devastated they didn’t get engaged. Tove is still my precious angel baby but I’m praying the writer doesn’t make him into a bad guy in the last book like bestie, Wendy wants to change the kingdom the same way you do. Please don’t try anything stupid.
I love this bonus story especially when there is three povs from Finn Trove and Loki. I’m so torn because I like Finn and Wendy together but Loki might seem that he likes her a little bit more. I can’t wait too read the next book in this series.
I don’t know if I didn’t already read this I thought I didn’t, but it felt vaguely familiar Could I live without this? Definitely. But it was a nice addition. It was nice to see Finn’s thoughts, I know it’s a bit controversial opinion, but I respect his decisions. With his family history, it makes sense and he knew long before Wendy it wouldn’t work between them even though he loves her I kind of liked this idea, it could have been written a little bit better, but Yeah, his short story here was a bit boring, but also cosy family feels, so I liked that one.
Then we get Tove and I think I liked his bit the best. Tove is such an interesting character and I believe I didn’t appreciate him properly while reading the trilogy. (I kind of want to read it again now, but I think I wouldn’t like it so much) Yeah, I really liked this it was very introspective, considering some ethical issues and duty and love and guilt and yeah I liked this. Though now I am wondering, when Tove said Wendy he was gay? I know she learned form Finn, but Tove doesn’t know that Because if he didn’t tell her at all, then he probably should feel guilty
And then we get Loki his bit was very dark, which I think explains why I didn’t love it that much. I actually don’t know what to say about this one. I want to say that it was great, because it had Loki in it, but It feels so empty that even Loki can’t save it. We didn’t learn anything new and I couldn’t even be worried for Loki. Oh, wait, we actually did learn something new! Yeah, that was romantic and sad but still, I didn’t care about this bit that much.
Overall a bit disappointing, but also the best from the short stories to Trylle/Kanin series
Read this one after finishing book 2, and not anytime before because SPOILERS!
This short story is the day of Wendy and Tove's engagement, set in 3 different character's POVs- Finn, Tove, and Loki.
Finn- you get to see the sibling interaction he has with his sister, Ember. It was interesting to see his thoughts, but also frustrating because he's so intent on pushing Wendy away. It's also kind of sad to see how chained he is to his sense of duty, and his reasoning and lifestyle in the tracker class.
Tove- it was so interesting to see his thoughts as he's usually all over the place in Wendy's POV. We see a bit into how auras work and what they mean, and what actually occurs at the party. I liked seeing his thoughts into why he proposed to Wendy, and while I was kind of annoyed that he is slightly using her as a cover, I understood and was saddened by his situation, and it seems logical that he would do what he could to change social policy. Also, possible ship with Bain??
Loki- he had the saddest POV for that day, and we see more about his history with Oren and the cruel ways of the king.
In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book as a Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Giveaway with the expectation that I would give an honest review.
I don't have too much to say about this short story, other than I really enjoyed it. It was nice to see things from other characters perspectives. It made me dislike Finn a little less anyway. And trust Loki more. Which I guess is two different ways of saying the same thing.
I LOVED this short story!! It was so amazing to read from other people's point of views!! I especially loved from Finn's and Loki's POV! I can never tell what they are thinking and I LOVED finally knowing!!
Enjoyed being in all these characters heads again, seeing the day of the betrothal party! Really great read!
*First read August 30th, 2012* Such a great short story, loved seeing more of this world! There's hints of where this series could go, and I can't wait to learn more!
idk if this was a whole book but I read it in the extras at the end of torn (the second book) and this is what solidified my liking for loki cuz his humour is amazing. but also trove speaking to baine at the party...... like I wanna know what happens next oh and fin- yeah he just annoys me now
This is fine I guess, there's just no reason for it to exist, since this adds nothing to the overall story. Finns part is purely annoying, Tove's is sad but make sense, and Loki's at least has a few lines that did amuse me.
These extra stories just make me love Loki more. If the goal is for Wendy to end up with Finn, this was not a good move! Currently deciding whether I draw up the protest signs now to save time, hmmmm.
This series will ALWAYS be my favourite books I read as a young teen. Will be handing them down to my kids for sure. Such imagination is used to picture the setting that these novels are in. I loved them.
Just a small short story. Couple of chapters. Interesting to see the pov of the 3 main males in Wendy’s life but Finn is still annoying me. And Loki I feel terrible for. I don’t think Wendy and Tove are going to happen based on Tove’s pov.
So, unlike the first one, this seemed to really need to be in the book and not as an extra. It gave amazing insight to the characters and I'm glad I got to read it.
Finn's story here was just kind of boring to me. Tove's was ok. Loki's was the best but feel so bad for him! Hope Wendy or someone can rescue him! We'll see!
