Yoshiki Nakamura () is a Japanese mangaka. She was born June 17. Nakamura made her manga debut with "Yume de Auyori Suteki" in the manga magazine Hana to Yume in 1993.
This is the only manga series I've followed for this long without getting completely burned out. It's a near-perfect blend of funny and dramatic, and while it hasn't made me laugh out loud for a while, it always makes me smile and look forward to the next volume.
*Re-read it from the start and continued until the present which is chapter 250
I absolutely love this series. I grew up reading this so I have this huge crush on Tsuruga Ren for 10 years now. Damn.
In my opinion, the Heel Sibling arc was the weakest but since we delved into Ren's past during that arc, it was really ok. So for that arc, i'll probavly give it a 4.
On the other hand, the current one is getting really good as well. I am definitely looking forward for the development!
This is definitely a transition into a new story arc. This will be the third major acting role that Kyoko will play (I'm assuming she gets it, but I could be wrong) (and no I don't count Sho's music video). BUT it's the first role that Kyoko is actually auditioning for. All her other roles were offered to her. So this will be Kyoko's first time REALLY in a competition and having to fight for a role. I'm sooo excited to see her do all the martial arts. I just know she's going to kick butt, she's always had major control over her body. Ren doesn't appear much in this volume, his plot seems to be taking a backseat while Kyoko advances her career. I think it's also important that this time she's moving forward without Ren holding her hand or giving advice in any way. She's really becoming independent.

This one didn't quite feel as intense as the last volume, but it's still pretty good! It was really neat to get to see Kyouko learning a new skill in order to apply for the role of a samurai in a period drama (where... if she gets the role... she'll be starring alongside Moko - as her rival! :o :o :o)
Hiou's grandfather is such a stereotypical "grumpy old man" character and I love him. Hopefully he'll be in more future chapters/volumes and not just this one, because I thought he brought a real energy to the story c:
Probably the most surprising thing to happen in this volume though was the return of Erika. She's COMPLETELY different to how she was when she was first introduced; not so much of a spoiled brat for one. But she's done a complete about-face to try and defeat Moko on her level (e.g. with talent rather than money), only to have someone ELSE who deals with their problems through underhanded fashions cause her to have an accident after she won the role from them and NOW she appears to be unable to walk (though due to psychological damage rather than physical, which means she should be able to recover quickly if she manages to overcome the psychological hurdle) so uhh... Shit has happened since we last saw her :|

I'M SO FUCKIN' SMAD I TYPED UP A WHOLE ASS REVIEW FOR THIS JUST NOW ON MY IPAD AND WHEN I WENT TO POST THE STUPID SHITTY HOTEL WIFI DECIDED TO SHIT OUT ON ME AND I. LOST. ALL. OF. IT. XP
Now that we've got that out of the way...
Yeah, so we're back to form with the rating on this volume. Definitely left me with better feelings compared to the previous. So yay.
We see a return to classic form with Kyoko having to deal with a snobby stuck up bitch while trying to get a role. Which we actually haven't had happen in a while, so, nice. *thumbs up* (Also kinda cool to see how Nakamura's art style has evolved with the use of the flashback panels. I kinda like that they don't have her redraw them for newer chapters. Her older art is rather Sailor Moon-esque, which I think is neat. :3)
Okay now...Kanae & Hio. I'm...still not into it. I think he's meant to be like...13? Which, is *slightly* better than what I thought, I suppose (I literally thought he was like 10 so...), considering Kanae is what, 17/18? Like, I'm fine with him having a cute little crush on her, but idk. It's just not for me personally, I guess. Also speaking of Moko-san's love life, seeing her interact with Yashiro in this volume left a proverbial wistful tear in my eye, since I once read a fic where they were a secondary couple (to Ren x Kyoko obvs) and idk I guess it made me develop a fondness for the idea of them even tho I knew it would never happen in canon. T_T
Also tho...was Ren even IN this volume? I don't think he was which makes me v sadface. At least things are getting a little juicy with his as-of-yet unseen super late White Day gift for Kyoko (and the hoops this silly gurl is jumping thru to deny that that big Tsuruga present is coming tho...omfg child istg). Oh, and Yashiro being her temporary manager. That seems like it'll be a whole lot of fun. ;D
Overall, seems like there's a lot of good stuff on the way. Alas, my last two volumes I have checked out from the library are literally a whole ass other country away from me rn, so it'll be a week or so until I can get to them. *sigh* Oh well, see ya then. XP

This volume definitely isn’t as entertaining as the previous one. It’s basically just Kyoko preparing for her samurai movie audition, and stressing out about the girl who supposedly attacked Ms Koenji for the role. Also, she freaks out for a while about not getting a White Day gift from Ren, which I’m sure was not intentional.
I miss seeing Kyoko interact with Ren, who we barely see at all in this one - just a few texts at the beginning. There’s also no Sho. We at least get some good Moko interactions, but it’s mostly training.
Luckily, I had taken so long to read this that I have 2 more volumes I can read right away!
Of everything I read, this is my favorite series. I have loved watching kyoko blossom through all her adversity. The growing relationship between her and Ren, not to mention his own personal journey, also provide lots of depth and excitement. I rushed through this one just like all the others. And simply cannot wait to see how the cliffhanger resolves!
We are starting a new arc, I’m surprised by the turn of events. I’m even more surprised of myself, I’m usually desperate to get more Ren and Kyoko romantic development but the story is mostly focusing on Kyoko preparing for auditions and getting justice for another character.
Also seems as if the air of the story has shifted y a lot of aspects and I’m curious to see if the drama darkens!
I really like this series, but I felt that this last part of it was much slower than the rest. I waited months and months to have more chapters to read and not much happened. There's still so many loose ends in this story and I'd like to see it keep moving towards an eventual-- still far away, conclusion.
I have read this series since years ago, couldn't remember when I started. I fall in love right away with the characters and story plot. It's so good that I am able to read the continuous by e-books, because the new editions of paper back are not available here at Jakarta. I reread from Vol. 01 :p Great thanks to the translators!
This is a transitional volume in between story arcs, but I still enjoyed it! I can’t wait to see where the story goes. Kyoko has come so far, and I want to see her succeed. There’s reason why this series has remained popular for over ten years: its good. Highly recommend. I’m only giving it four stars because it wasn’t as funny and it’s more of a transition into the next story arc.
I mean... not a huuuuuge amount happened in this one, but what a cliffhanger! My favourite parts of this series is when Kyoko is up against an obstacle (normally an audition), and we get to see how she reacts to it an overcomes her challenges. This volume is really a set up for what I hope will be an amazing, bad-ass volume coming next.
Begins with Kyoko meeting Hiou’s grandfather for ninja training, Ren is away at Guam, and ends with Kyoko getting immediately rejected before the audition.
Other notes: Kyoko meets the rich girl again in the hospital and learns how the audition of Momiji has been influenced by nepotism. Kyoko also squashes her jealousy of not getting a white day present from Ren.

This volume marks the beginning of the Momiji (ninja) role arc, which I think is Kyoko's best role to date. So cool! Though the speed of her prep stretches believability, it's looking like a lot of action is in the near future. Also, more Ren drama.
