Dominic wouldn’t seriously pursue Levi, no matter what his relationship status. The man was gorgeous, sure, but he was prickly as a hedgehog and tightly wound as a Victorian schoolmarm. Dominic had no idea how that boyfriend of his handled him.
“Sometimes I think…we might not be right for each other.� Levi hesitated, then added, “He’s not my bashert*.�
“Nonna, he doesn’t want pancakes.�
“Waffles then,� she said.
[ten minutes later]
“We’re leaving now-Nonna, what are you doing?�
Nonna looked up from the bowl of batter she was stirring. “Nothing.�
“You think that while I’ve been investigating this case over the past week, I’ve come face-to-face with the Seven of Spades, spoken to them, and never known who they really were?�
“Yeah. I do.�
