Is that too much to desire?

One night for fun, passion, and a chance to remember what it’s like to be a woman.
I’m not looking for love.
There’s a man in my life who loves me with all his heart. He has beautiful blue eyes, is three feet tall, and calls me mommy.

One Night is a stand-alone romance that’s on the lighter side, especially for Aleatha Romig. It’s sweet, sexy, and a lot of fun to read. This is one of those books that kept a huge smile on my face and had me laughing out loud along the way.

Amanda’s best friend convinces her to go on a blind-date. even though Amanda isn’t comfortable with this, and it’s been a long time since she’s been on a date, she decides to go. She doesn’t expect much to come out of this blind date, but what she gets is one night of connection, of passion, and one night where she feels like herself again.

Amanda’s situation at home has her drawling the line at one night. Even if Malcolm wants more. Still, the two share an undeniable connection and one night becomes stolen moments and phone calls between them both. One night becomes so much more.

I really enjoyed Aleatha’s take on the blind date/one night stand. I liked the fun little twists that were thrown into the story. Malcolm was pretty fantastic, and Mandy was great too. If you’re looking for an quick, easy, and light read, pick this one up!

As I contemplate the possibility of a future, it all frightens me. I’m scared to be happy. I’m scared to bring all the separate parts of my life together because if I do, it could all implode. Or worse, it could be perfect and then it could disappear.

If you’re looking for a low on angst steamy read, this one just might hit the spot. This was my second Aleatha Romig book and although at times I really enjoyed it, there were just a few things that bothered me about the story. That’s not to say that I didn’t like ONE NIGHT, I did, but I LOVED her previous book, PLUS ONE so much more.

Amanda Wells is a young widow who has been raising her five-year-old son, Jase since her husband was killed in Afghanistan not too long after their son was born. Her personal life has been on a permanent hiatus since then. Amanda’s entire life focuses on her job and her son. She has not had any desire to put herself out there again and re-enter the dating scene. Amanda also doesn’t want to bring a man into her son’s life when ”fǰ𱹱 isn’t a guarantee for anyone. While she claims she hasn’t gotten involved with another man because of how it would affect her son’s life, deep down she’s afraid of going through another loss like the one she already went through when she lost her husband.

Amanda’s best friend convinces her to go out on a blind date her husband’s friend that is a retired professional NHL hockey player. She’s hesitant at first but at the urging of her friend and her mother, she decides to take a night off from her motherly duties and try having some fun. Amanda is supposed to go on a double date with her best friend and her hubby, but when she gets to the restaurant she gets a text from her friend explaining that they can’t make it. Just as she’s about to leave, a handsome stranger she’s sitting next to at the bar strikes up a conversation with her. Things seem to be flowing easily between them and it’s hard for her to deny this sexy man is igniting desires in her that she hasn’t felt in years. Malcolm and Amanda not only have a tantalizing conversation over drinks, they end up back at Malcolm’s place where they share the most passionate night together. What was only supposed to be one night of no strings attached sex, turns into something that neither of them ever expected.

Throughout the story, Malcolm and Amanda only get to spend some stolen moments together when Amanda’s family or best friend are able to watch her son. I’d say her guilty conscience was their biggest obstacle, and this was one of the aspects of the story that didn’t appeal to me at all. It had been five years since her husband died and she devoted all of that time to raising her son, her feelings of guilt seemed unreasonable to me, so were her fears of bringing a new man into their lives.

Malcolm was almost too good to be true. He was absolutely perfect! He was extremely patient with Amanda and maybe just a little too quick with giving his heart to her. It felt a bit insta-lovish on his part. I really did love his character though and was mad every time Amanda kept him at arm's length. I mean she wouldn’t even tell him what her son’s name was!

At about the 85% mark in the story, there’s a little twist which had me leaning towards really enjoying this book again and the ending was sugary sweet!! I did finish the book feeling satisfied after all and with a smile on my face as well.

ONE NIGHT releases on September 5th!

This is my first Aleatha Romig read and it did not disappoint. I really enjoyed getting to know these characters and they kept me intrigued from start to finish. The story was evenly paced and I fell in love with the writing. I've heard that I must be crazy to not have read this author before now and I completely agree with that now. I will definitely be reading more of her.

Every once in a while you crave that light hearted, feel good romance that’s going to put you in a good mood and “One Night hit all the right spots.

One Night doesn’t end with a kiss. It begins with one.

Being a parent is one of the hardest jobs that you can ever imagine and when you’re a widowed single Mom like Amanda Wells, that job is all the more tougher. Working hard for five years straight and making her son her number one priority is the only thing that Amanda cares about and with her personal life being non existent, being with someone else is the last thing on her mind. But when her friend convinces her to go on a much needed blind date, little does Amanda know is that her life is about to change with just One Night.

Malcom was a perfect gentleman and I loved the fact that he wasn’t afraid to say how he felt about Amanda. She was very cautious about their relationship and having a young son only added to her stress and he respected her decisions. These two shared an instant connection from the moment they met and you felt it in everything that they did together.

I will admit that Amanda did frustrate me a little bit and even though I understood her apprehensions, I wanted her to be more open up. But she did come to her senses in the end and that was the most important thing. With great side characters, a good plot, and some hot as hell scenes that will have you fanning yourself, you won’t want to miss out on this one.

If you’re Looking for a sweet and sexy quick read, then this would be the perfect read for you.

I liked the premise of this book. I’m a sucker for sweet romantic stories with a single mother and cute kid.
But I also need some substance and depth.

I picked up some new posh lines, so my reviews were more refined.
So, watch me!

I missed character development and their connection.
The story was too predictable and lacked depth.

Well, back to Alex’s style.

I didn’t dislike MCs, but they were shallow. Sorry, but not sorry.
It took me 5 days to finish this book. I read 4 others in between. It definitely shows my level of emotional involvement *snoring sound*

The h was meant to be sweet and innocent and they accomplished to polish her image by bashing all OWs the male protagonist bedded in the past.
Coz they were bimbos.
Bimbos!

Hello, slut-shaming! Long time no see

But he was a great man, coz despite he slept with bimbos, he remained a great guy and the women were sl*ts.

Hello, double standards! Long time no see

Blah blah blah

The book was safe. The former hockey player aka playboy (think about bimbos!) turned out to be a great guy and an excellent kindergarten teacher!!!

A couple of TSTL moments, some sweet times, sugar powder up my a** -
and the story was perfect!

P.S. As not a native speaker I tripped over some lines. But it’s definitely my bad English ;-)

“The way she said it, it almost seemed like a new development, but how could a woman like Mandy not be on birth control?

And really, how???

One Night is a story written by the lighter, sweeter side of Aleatha Romig.

In One Night you won’t have twisted and commending males manipulating the female character. You won’t have a complicated plot either or millionaires.

One Night is a very sweet story about real characters who battle in the day to day life.

Mandy/Amanda is a young widow trying to raise her five years old son the best she can. She has an incredibly supportive family and a very good best friend. She also has a difficult boss nicknamed De Vil and is contstantly struggling with work and her want to do what’s right by her son.

She is worried about him. Does she have the right to have some fun and let him with his doting grand- parents?

She even never imagines settling with someone else one day. What is his son loved that person and said person disappeared? Imagine the heartbreak!

In a few words; Mandy is real. She could be every mom on the planet. You, me, your neighbor.

When Sally her best friend pushes her to accept a double date with her husband’s friend Pep she really needs to be coerced into it. Her friend and husband never show and she has one memorable night with a sexy stranger Malcolm.

One night that’s what she wanted.

For one night she would be a woman again not purely a mom.

But it was such a great night. And Malcom is so perfect And

Well you guess where this will go.

Malcolm was really the perfect boyfriend. Never bossy, never controlling. Gently urging her sometimes as he wanted more with her. He acted with Mandy like you would with a skittish doe: patiently. He knew and understood her need to protect her son. He even admired Mandy for this.

Now let’s be honest: he was too sweet for my taste. I would say in real life I would fall in a heartbeat for a guy like him. I would supplicate the guy to marry me because he was perfect.

In my books though it’s fantasy and I like them a little commanding.

I know in real life a commending guy would only get a slap for me but in books I can dream that’s what I would love :-D

Mandy is very easy to connect with as her concerns are every mother’s concerns.

But again I wanted her to be lighter sometimes and stop worrying so much. I know this is contradictory as you could say I’m a Mandy and I did get why she acted like that. Once more this is a book and I wanted something slightly different.

These are the sole reasons why I did not give this book more stars. Purely because I needed something a tad more complicated or gritty.

Would I recommend this book? Of course if you are a fan of very sweet and lovely stories.

I love a story that makes you feel good, puts a smile on your face, and is just pure romance. One Night is a sweet, wonderful second chance romance where happily ever afters can and do come true.

A widowed mother with a little boy......an ex athlete turned teacher.....meet One "Fateful" Night and so the story begins. This is a blossoming romance with not a lot of angst. Malcom and Mandy meet and decide that One Night is all they will have but at the end of that night......fate has other ideas. They continue to see each other but keep it in the moment. Mandy believes that finding love again is not in the cards because she has a son. And that little boy adds a sweetness and sadness to the story because he's never know his father. A fearful mother of letting someone into her son's life weighs heavily throughout the story.

Second chances do happen but sometimes you have to take a leap of faith. One Night is tender and fun and is a nice quick read that just makes you happy.

Sweet, sexy, adorable and funny read that made me want to face palm on the desk because I’m just like that.

No seriously I have no clue what is wrong with me. I should know better than this that fluffy, rom-coms aren’t for me. But you just too make sure I’ve made the same mistake for about the two hundredth time. I predict it will happen again. Cause I seem to be an idiot.

The blurb sounded promising.

Single Mum looking for love? Check.

Cute kid? Check.

Interesting Hero? Check.

And yet I am utterly disappointed. With the plot, the characters but I do like her writing style.
Malcolm the Hero is perfect. He did anything he possible could to get to know Amanda/Mandy.

Amanda who is looking for Mandy Wells. Pet peeve? I am not a fan of the name but then again I am not a fan of Mandy. I only accepted her hang ups so much afterwards it just became to tiring to keep up with everything that was going on. I skimmed a lot of the things that Mandy was going through.

Some things were just so obvious. That I had eye roll problems and saw the back of my brain on numerous accounts. But this is just me. So pinch of salt peeps, pinch of salt.

One Night is in Aleatha’s Lighter Ones series and they are absolutely perfect for readers who are not into more suspenseful, angsty reads. This series just keeps getting better! I really enjoyed One Night!

Amanda is a single mom and hasn’t dated since she lost her husband years ago. Her bestie wants to set her up on a blind date so she can get back out there, but she is reluctant since she isn’t looking for anyone. She does end up agreeing just so she can feel like her old self for one night. When she meets Malcolm she decides to have her wild one night stand, but after one night he wants more. Amanda has to decide if she is willing to let Malcolm into her life.

I love fun, sexy quick reads and this story is just that. It reads super quickly and the characters are so enjoyable. I loved how their relationship progressed and their dialogue. If you are looking for something quick and fun, definitely pick this one up!

I love my romances dark, suspenseful, and filled with angst. Sometimes though, I just want a book that makes my stomach have butterflies and has me believing that easy, breezy sort of love does exist. One Night is exactly that; Aleatha Romig had me believing that chance meetings with the perfect man are possible, that love is only a cancelled blind date away. Mandy is a widow who has been out of the dating game for years, her world revolves around her son, but she knows it would be nice to enjoy life with someone more her age by her side. She's head-strong, protective, caring, and unaware of her natural beauty. Like most moms, her focus has been on anyone but herself. Malcolm "Pep" is a handsome hockey wonder with a sweet side. His player games are behind him, he's like a whole new person, and the girl he wants to share that with is Mandy. Too bad all that is between them is one night, a lot of smutty chemistry, and secrets.

description

I really enjoyed Aleatha Romig's take on a one night stand. Their connection isn't forced, beyond lust, and while it seems like it might be insta-love, it doesn't read that way. Mandy and Malcolm take the time to develop a true connection between them. Of course, it's a lot easier than most relationships thanks to a man so amazing and without the added drama of the past. Things between them are surface level, but as they build their trust they introduce the important things. I thought it was fun to read about their rendezvous' and their sneaking around, it was cute and lighthearted. I ultimately cheered them on, to see them develop into something more, and I wasn't let down.

"This is dangerous.
This is sexy.
This is stupid.
This is erotic.

I will admit that Malcolm being that perfect is a bit of a stretch. The plausibility that One Night would happen in real life just seems impossible, but that's what sweet romance is for. We want the romance with the hockey star who does everything just right, we want our role as a single mother to be respected, and we want our friends and family to help make everything work out just so. It doesn't usually work that way, real life has bumps, but we all can dream.

"For only a moment, I allow myself the small fantasy of expectancy."

If you're looking for a sweet and smutty read, One Night by Aleatha's lighter side, Leatha Romig, is perfect for you. It's an easy read with fantastic characters and Aleatha's writing is excellent.

A series of fortunate events leads to a second chance at happiness!

The last thing Amanda wants to do is get setup on a blind date. Her main focus in life is on her young son, Jase. She’s perfectly content being the best mother she can be. When she meets a sexy stranger while waiting for her blind date, she decides to let go for just one night of fun.

What I loved: This story really does read like a series of fortunate events. It’s super cute, full of emotion, and sinfully sexy. I’m loving the lighter side of Aleatha Romig! She perfectly captures the emotional struggle of getting on the proverbial horse again, as well as, the struggle a mother feels about protecting her child from the hurt and loss of losing someone you’ve grown attached too.

Everything in this book is plotted down to the last detail. It all happens for a reason and in a specific sequence. I won’t ruin it with spoiler, but you’ll get my point when you read this fun little novel.

The characters are wonderful. Amanda is a great mom. Her focus and priority always revolves around her kid. Malcolm is one of the swooniest heroes I’ve read. He’s perfect in every way. I kinda want him for myself ;)

Overall, another solid light read from “Leatha. I recommend it to readers who enjoy light, sweet, and swoony reads!

Super sexy and a whole lotta sweet, a story of wanting more but blinded by fear of what more could mean. Too much at risk, but too good to give up, what choice is there but to enjoy the ride and see where it will all take you. Mandy and Malcom has a natural chemistry that you can’t help but cheer on. It was both endearing and frustrating as they battle with their emotions, mainly Mandy but you just gotta have faith that Malcom is the man who can prove to her that forever does exist.

A little too perfect...

While I liked One Night, it was just a wee bit too predictable, eye-roll worthy, and the hero was just a little too perfect. Don't get me wrong, I like it when a hero is a good man, but in this case, he said and did EVERYTHING right. He was good looking, patient, kind, sensitive, thoughtful, and sexy. While all of that is sweet and very appealing, it's hardly realistic. I should know as I have a near perfect husband but even he bugs the bejeesus out of me sometimes. I couldn't find one fault in Malcolm... oh wait, there was one problem...

Malcolm has a ... DUH DUH DUH ... Rod of Steel

Please, please, PLEASE... never make me read that cringeworthy description again in this lifetime. It does not turn me on or make me feel anything but horror and a little concern for the heroine's safety.

The sexy times were plentiful and there seemed to be a lot of screaming satisfaction. Unfortunately, between the descriptions (bring in the *steel rod*), unrealistic first date 'playtime', and her screaming *O's*, the sexy times were eye-roll worthy. I just thought that their chemistry, trust, and connection a little too insta.

The storyline was cute and while I understood Mandy's hesitation in bringing a man into her life, she held out a little too long to share her reality. Mandy showed Malcolm very little respect by wanting to keep herself and her son separate from what they were sharing. It was obvious that Malcolm was far from running away from commitment, and every barrier was of her making. I even (for about 2.5 seconds) thought he'd be better off without her and her commitment issues.

It ended perfectly and everyone was happy... just as I expected. Sure, most romances tend to end close to the same way, but I still wanted a little bump to make things interesting. I even had to stop at one chapter because I knew exactly what was coming and I wasn't in the mood to see it play out. Not even a stumble... (shaking my head in disappointment).

Please don't judge by my review alone because maybe I'm just too jaded to believe in a perfect hero... even for One Night.

This book was silly and it made me laugh a lot. And I'm sure it wasn't the purpose of the book. Oh well..
There was a mixing of writing that didn't fit the book. Metaphors that sounded out of place. Poetic descriptions. But they made me laugh.
Like "his fingers in my "behind ". Lmao. Really?? Behind?! The most unfit word ever.
The hero was really good. Patient, loyal, respectful.
But at the same time too cheesy. Sugar overload.
I just realized there's no balance: either the male mc is a jerk or a too cheesy.

One Night was such a light, sweet and feel good book that will leave you smiling and swooning even after you're done reading it. The first time I was able to read the blurb of this book, I immediately got hooked and captivated. I wanted to know more about it. I mean, we're talking about a single mother and an ex-hockey player here! I certainly had high hopes for this book and I wasn't disappointed at all. Leatha just proved yet again that her lighter side can leave an impact just as crazy magnetic as her darker side.

After losing her husband to a roadside IED during his last few months of deployment, Amanda Wells devoted all of her time and love to her five-year old son, Jase. She stopped going out much and dating all together, making being a single mom her top priority. And then her best friend set her up for a blind date with a mutual friend—an ex-hockey player and the best bud of the man she's seeing. After getting bugged about it for quite some time and some pushing from her own mother to find her jolly old self, Amanda finally relented and agreed to said date.

Malcolm Peppernick's life (as Pep) in the professional hockey world was long over. That includes the fame, the women, the partying. Now, all he wants to do is change paths in his career and move on with his life. Try his best to have a clean slate in a new city, which kinda takes dating out of the picture. All he's focused on at the moment is building up his new career, which he loves and enjoys tremendously. But with the insistence of his friend and old hockey pal, he finds himself agreeing to go on a blind date with a nice woman and figured he'd just get it over with and get his friend off his back.

It was only supposed to be one night—an entire night filled with unrestrained passion and unbridled lust, where Amanda could be the old her, leaving all her inhibitions and reality behind, and just live in the moment with Malcolm. But with how strong the chemistry and attraction was between them, one night could never really be enough. The only thing is, Mandy has so many reservations when it came to Jase—which was completely understandable—that it left her sneaking time with Malcolm after her son goes to bed, unless she finds someone to watch him for her. Or if they couldn't make it to see each other, they resorted to phone calls. She tried hard to separate her life between the sheets with Malcolm from her son, but it was inevitable. They were inevitable. And I hated how much she hurt Malcolm in the process to try and keep those two sides of her life from clashing. But don't get me wrong—she really is an amazing mother.

I fell in love with everything about our hero in this story. Malcolm may have had his own rocky past as "Pep", but the new and improved version of Malcolm that Mandy gets here is just perfect. The love and incredible amount of patience Malcolm displayed all throughout was pretty outstanding, in my opinion. He gave her all the time and space she needed to adjust and think and still, he never pushed her for anything. Even when he didn't know where they stood or if he's falling into what they have alone. He's just so sweet and gentlemanly (outside the bedroom, that is), it was utterly swoon-worthy and heart-melting. Mandy is beyond lucky to have found a guy like Malcolm. Or better yet, she's lucky a guy like Malcolm waited for her to wake up and see what she truly had right in front of her.

I absolutely enjoyed every moment of Mandy and Malcolm, especially with how much fate played a huge role in their relationship. I know there are times that this kind of thing gets a little too much, it starts to lose your interest. But that wasn't the case with this one. For me anyway. The humor and the twists injected into the tale added spark and flavor into the book instead. I'll even go as far as saying that I loved this one a helluva lot more than Plus One. This is just better, hotter, more adorable and so much more compelling. If you're up for an easy, fun, yet sexy read with the perfect amount of emotional pull, One Night is the book for you.

A sweet, sexy and fun romance!!! Aleatha Romig is back at it again bringing forth a lighter love story in One Night. Well given the title of this book, it was one night where a young widow after five years goes on a blind date for one night and meets a man who wants more than one night. So can one night turn into more nights?

Amanda Wells is a young widow raising her five year old son after losing her husband to an IED explosion in Afghanistan. She has dedicated her life to raising her son and it leaves not much of a social life that is until her best friend encourages her to go on a blind date. So when Amanda shows up for the blind date, her best friend informs her that they have to reschedule. As she was about to leave, she meets Malcolm, a stranger who encourages to stay and have drinks with him and soon to one night.

One night was all that it was supposed to be but it soon to turns to several more nights of hot passion. As Malcolm and Amanda begins to get closer, Amanda begins to put a wall between them as she is fearful of her heart breaking once again. Will Malcolm be able to show Amanda that he respects and understand that a part of her heart will always belong to her late husband? And that he isn’t going to break her heart and to trust him when he said he will vow his love to her and her son?

So if you are looking for a light, low on angst and high on passion romance then One Night is the book for you. Aleatha does a terrific job showcasing her sweet romantic side.

This is my first book by Aleatha Roming who normally writes darker, grittier books, a genre I’m not a fan of, so I was excited to finally get to read an author I had heard so much about. I loved everything about One Night and I could easily see why people enjoy her work; her writing is fluid, it is intelligent, and the humor in this book made me laugh out loud. Twists and turns, a blind date “gone wrong, and complications abound in this story, but through it all two people find the time to get to know one another after what was supposed to be a one night stand and it turns into way more than either one expected.

Amanda “Mandy Wells is a widowed single mom to a precious and precocious 5 year old little boy. Since her husband’s death, she’s put all of her time and energy into her son and her work. Both her best friend and her mother are insistent that she begin dating and she is beginning to feel like she wants to remember what it’s like to feel like a woman. Waiting for her best friend and her boyfriend so show up for her group blind date, Mandy meets a man who trips her trigger so when she realizes her blind date isn’t going to happen she agrees to spend the evening with Malcom Peppernick. Neither one realizing they are each other’s blind date or wanting to admit the strong feelings they have towards one another after one evening together.

There was so much good and fun in this book and while at times Mandy’s need to separate her dating life from her mommy life drove me a bit nuts I could also understand her reasoning. I enjoyed watching them date and learning so much about each other. I will admit I figured out the little twist in this story early on, but even that didn’t lessen my enjoyment because I sat in anticipation of it being revealed. Each and every scene is this book was written to enhance the plot, not interfere with it and from the moments Mandy spent with her family including her sweet little boy, to Malcom living his life out of the public eye in a much quieter way, to their friends and family with their crazy and fun advice, and to the times Mandy and Malcom spend building a relationship, this book is simply special.

A sweet and sexy love story about finding love once again

Amanda was not looking for love. After losing her husband the only thing she wanted to concentrate on is her son Jason. What happens when she goes on a blind date just to appease her friend? Malcolm was tired of the groupies and one night stands. All he wanted to do was take a break from dating. But when he thinks his blind date isn't going to show and meets Mandy instead, he's already second guessing his "no more dating" policy.

This story was sweet, mostly light, and fun. I loved Malcolm right off the bat. I was definitely rooting for him. It had its sad moments especially when reading about her husband and her struggles to move on.

Amanda was strong and I could understand her hesitation with wanting to move on and allowing a man to be in her sons life.

I did find some of the story to be predictable and I wasn't sure if those parts were suppose to be twists, but all and all it was a good read.

Whether it's the darker side or the lighter side of Aleatha Romig, she pulls me under her spell EVERY SINGLE TIME! If you ask me which side I prefer, I couldn't give you a direct answer because I love them both for different reasons. When Ms. Romig goes dark, she goes DARK, and when she goes light, she gives us beautiful, sexy, and sweet stories like ONE NIGHT - where we can laugh, cry, and blush from head to toe. Amanda and Malcolm's story was so full of HEART and HEAT. I enjoyed their journey immensely. If this love story does anything for you, it will bring forth so many emotions that you won't see coming. The storyline is exciting and oh so sexy, but it deals with heavy circumstances that will bring tears to your eyes and a heaviness to your heart. It will make you FEEL everything you could possibly feel in that moment and when the last page has turned and the happily ever after has come to light, you will feel such content and such happiness that you will want to experience it all over again.

How does ONE NIGHT turn into FOREVER? Well, you'll just have to grab a copy of your very own to find out!

I really liked One Night, but I definitely didn't love it as much as I loved Aleatha Romig's book, Plus One. While I did like Amanda A.K.A. Mandy, she did really annoy me at times; especially when it comes to the fact that she didn't even want to tell Malcolm what her son's name is. I can understand Amanda/Mandy being hesitant to introduce Malcolm to her son, but that just seemed too ridiculous, as far as I'm concerned. The fact that Amanda/Mandy wanted to keep so many details about her life a secret really made her come across as being rather shallow in my opinion. Plus, it also left me with a lot of questions about what did they talk about during time together if Amanda/Mandy didn't want to talk about her personal life; especially since I felt like Romig never went into very much detail when it came to establishing what Amanda/Mandy and Malcolm did talk about when they spent time together. I also thought that Malcolm could have benefitted from a little bit more character development; because I thought that it seemed rather hard to believe that a former professional hockey player would go on to become a small town teacher. Those two primary complaints aside, One Night is definitely a lighthearted, cute, and fun book, and a fast read that's worth reading :)

My Rating/Score: 3 out of 5 Stars on ŷ. 6 out of 10 on my own scoring system.

Amanda Wells is a widowed mother who has focused only on her son and work for five years. She has not really been living her own life. Malcolm Peppernick is an ex-hockey player who is new to town and is starting over in a new career and slower paced life.

They are brought together at the hands of friends or perhaps fate, and they end up spending one amazing night together. Neither was looking for love or more. Amanda allows herself to let go without the fears holding her back. But that was all they agreed to--one night. But Malcolm decides that he doesn't want to be done with her and he goes into pursuit mode. But he also realizes if he pushes her too hard it could send her running.

This is a sweet romance with some secrets, surprises, and mistaken identities. Malcolm was totally swoony, sexy, and patient. He knew what he wanted, but also knew he could only challenge her so much. Amanda was guarded, skittish and untrusting. It took a lot for her to actually be spontaneous and live in the moment, and she did not want to share her past or her son. She created issues due to her keeping the different aspects of her life compartmentalized. But that can only work so for long.

This is another smile-inducing, heartfelt love story on the lighter side from Aleatha Romig. I enjoyed getting both of their points of view. I liked the side characters of their friends, Sally and Brian, her brother, Alec, and her son, Jase. The added more depth and fun to the story. I just adored Malcolm. And I could understand Amanda's reluctance even when she frustrated me.

It was funny, sexy, and romantic, but also had emotional undertones and a bit of angst. This is also Amanda's journey towards finding herself again, opening up, trusting, living, and starting to hope. Maybe it's fate, maybe it's chemistry, or just Malcolm himself, but they find a connection. He is on a mission to give her plenty of firsts and tries to fulfill her fantasies, and wants to become part of her reality. He just wants to snag a piece of her heart for himself if she will allow him in. But it will not be that easy to win.

Aleatha continues to please with her 'Letha "lighter side" romances.

ONE NIGHT is more sweet and sexy angst as opposed to the comedy of PLUS ONE--and it's equally enjoyable!!!

Mandy is a military widow with a cute kindergarten-aged son Jase. She's pretty closed off to love in the beginning, so her friends decide to set her up on a blind date...

This is were smokin hot Malcom "Pep" Peppernick appears. An ex-Hockey jock turned coach, he is sex on a stick, and he and Mandy have immediate chemistry.

The problem is Mandy doesn't want to disrupt her son's life--hence the "One Night" rule...

But one night isn't enough for these lovers. The question becomes whether Malcom can convince Mandy he's safe enough to trust, especially when the truth is revealed about who he really is and his past... eeek!

It's sexy, it's sweet, and it'll make you swoon. I absolutely adored this lighter romance from our queen of the dark. Don't miss it!

A Sexy FIVE-STAR Must-read~

(There's this one part at the end that was especially swoony... I'm not going to tell you what it is b/c that would be Rude! LOL!)

One Night (Lighter Ones) by Aleatha Romig
4 stars!!!

“Yes, the nun has left the building.

One Night is the newest release in Aleatha Romig’s lighter side series and I have to say they are just as addictive as her dark reads. One Night was a fantastically cute, honest, swoon worthy romance, one that will have you heart melting on many occasions, where a little kid will steal your heart and where the warm and fuzzies will take over your entire being. This was a quick, easy, unputdownable read. Perfect as a pick me up.

“One night doesn’t end with a kiss it begins with one.

Aleatha Romig regales us with her twist on the blind date / one-night stand trope and this one went hand in hand. Where a blind date, turns into a one-night stand, never to be repeated. Our heroine, Amanda is a widow and is something that she has never got over. It was her pregnancy that got her through the darkest of days and it is her son that is her incentive to wake up in the morning. Despite the years passing, Mandy still isn’t ready and only agrees to the blind date to acquiesce her best friend.

“I think fate had other plans, and who am I to argue with fate.

Malcolm is an ex-hockey player that has moved to town to start a new career now his professional playing days are over. Malcolm was adorable, long gone are his puck bunny days, long gone is his philandering reputation, Malcolm has grown up.

One night of intense, hot, all-consuming passion. Mandy is reminded of feeling wanted, feeling loved and feeling like a woman, but it is just one night, of that she is sure. This was instant attraction, both felt that inexplicable pull to one another and we all know that well known adage, one night is never enough.

I loved this book, it was relatable, it was honest and it was real. Real problems, real fears, real feelings. Aleatha Romig really captured the fears of a woman putting herself and her heart on the line when it had already been decimated. While this was instant attraction, Malcolm was the perfect gentleman. A man on a mission to make Mandy see that there is still room in her heart for another. This was a really enjoyable read, emotion when needed, fantastic banter and dialogue and great secondary characters. I love this lighter side.

Aleatha, you have WOW'd me again with your writing. One Night is another book from Aleatha's lighter side and I am loving it. While I absolutely love and will always read Aleatha's darker and more suspenseful reads, she's definitely got a knack for the lighter reads too.

One Night is a sweet, fun and easy story to read. I was smiling the whole time and I read within hours of starting it. I couldn't put it down, I didn't want to. I love both Malcolm and Mandy (Amanda). These two are sort of starting new phases in their life and end up meeting unexpectedly (the real story behind how they meet is really cute though, but I won't ruin that tidbit).

It's nice to watch two people learn about each other and allow their relationship to progress naturally. Now I will tell you things start off hot and schmexy (and that never dies down) but getting to know more than just the physical side of one another was really refreshing and Aleatha told the story beautifully. And yes, Aleatha does not let us know down when it comes to those down and dirty scenes. HOT DAMN!!

I can honestly say that everyone will love this story. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it!!!

One Night is a cute, sweet read that although I found enjoyable was at times irritating for instance the heroine I didn't fully like her and the hero I felt like some of the things he said/thought didn't ring true for a male character.

“I don’t want us to be strangers, but lovers, friends, soulmates, and everything in between.

The lighter side of Aleatha Romig has just knocked my socks off! One Night is sweet, sexy and the kind of romance that you just can’t help but fall in love with.

One Night follows the story of Malcolm and Mandy. From the moment I started reading Mandy and Malcolm’s story, I couldn’t help but fall helplessly in love. From the writing to the story-line to the unforgettable characters, this book quickly stole my heart. One Night is the perfect romance.

From the moment we meet Malcolm and Mandy, the sparks between these two are off the charts. You know instantly that no matter how much they may say they’ll only spend one night together, that one night will never be enough. I for one know that I couldn’t get enough of these two. Stealing my heart from page one, I couldn’t help but devour this book. The pull. The chemistry. The alpha male. And the woman who was reminded of how it felt to live again.Seriously!! So. Many. Feels.

One Night made me swoon and reminded me how amazing love can be. This is the kind of story that you will leave you with the biggest smile on your face and your heart full of love. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, I love the lighter side to Aleatha Romig and can’t wait for her to write more, so I can devour it and impatiently wait for the next lighter story she writes! If you’re looking for a romance that is fast paced, heartwarming, sexy as hell and will leave you breathless and swooning, look no further. When you finish a romance, one you CONSUMED in one night, and are still GLOWING and GIDDY like a school girl with her first crush, you know it's a super star of a story. ONE NIGHT by Aleatha Romig delivers a dual dose of HEAT and HEART, a HEADY HIT felt everywhere!!!

One night was all it took for me to devour Aleatha Romig's latest sensation. One night and I SMOLDERED. One night and I SWOONED. One night was all it took for One Night to OWN EVERY OUNCE OF ME. One night and I was a GONER for this head-in-the clouds love story. One Night and it felt like coming home, the most delicious deja vous, as I already met the shortened version of this story under Aleatha Romig's former alter ego or the dynamic duo known as Jade Sinner.

Beautiful and caring Amanda Wells was struck by a tragedy that forever altered her world. She has no time for dating with a busy life dedicated to her family and work. I felt her pain and struggle, a blow no one should bear.

One encounter one night with a stranger, a gorgeous god, Malcolm, changes Amanda's night...her world...everything.

"You said you want one night. One night doesn’t end with a kiss. It begins with one.

Malcolm and Amanda are magical together and I loved them! This hero and heroine's pull is instant, their chemistry combustible, their meeting perhaps inevitable. It FELT like FATE, as if this romance was meant to be and MEANT FOR ME.

It's one of my favorite views, watching her come.

HOLY HOTNESS!!! Malcolm and his delicious mouth are SMOKIN' HOT! One Night is SULTRY, a story that BLAZES with heat and BURNS with desire. Oh did I burn too!

"What do you want?"

"Oh, beautiful. I want you."

I'm DONE! Malcolm's beautiful and bold words made me MELT me into a pool of gushy feels. I felt ALL OF THE SWOON! This hot and huge-hearted hero POSSESSED ME! Oh was I Malcolm's!

One Night by Aleatha Romig is a sexy, swoon-filled, butterfly-fluttering, full-of-feels love story....but SO MUCH MORE!!! One Night is FATE FUSED WITH FEELS. One Night is a tale of destiny, so dreamy that you'll float to Cloud Nine. One Night delivers two meaningful messages, mantras that we all should follow: Live life to its fullest; don't let it pass you by. If life knocks you down, dust yourself off, get back up, and try again...rise again.

As I continue to bask in the afterglow of sweetness, still warm from the heat, I can't help but SMILE from this special story that I got to feel again. One Night BURNED MY BODY and STORMED MY SOUL, hitting my heart where my emotions were engulfed in this romance, pulling at every part of me. My soul sank into this story along with my heart. I was BEGUILED with this book that quickly became BOOK BLISS! I was wholeheartedly hooked! Hook. Line. Sinker. One night was all it took for this tantalizing and tender tale to become one AMAZING ADDICTION!

4.5 sweet and smoldering kisses

A MUST-READ ROMANCE!!!
