As Always Noragami did not disappoint. The story is darker than the rest of the volumes, with depressing themes, huge twists and a focus on Yukine and his past and future. Apart from the great story, the art was phenomenal and the characters intriguing.
Damn. Yukine is spiraling out of control yet again. Other than that though, this volume was filled with comedy to the brim. That mock-fight between Yato and Takemikazuchi was freakin hilarious. Poor Take literally cannot catch a break in this volume. He and Kiun were such an awesome addition to the series: I¡¯m enjoying their characters more and more with each new chapter.
And with that, I finally caught up to date with the Noragami manga. Here¡¯s to the hope that it doesn¡¯t lose its consistent brilliance for many years to come!
I'm starting to realize how much I love Takemikazuchi and Ebisu. They're both such messes.
The whole thing about the gods' secret is so scary and interesting. I mean it's possible for a Shinki to know their past since the Burier exists, but she's the only one and Yukine's new curiosity has clearly crazed him. I'm so sad for him. He's always going through and he has so much hope for his past when the reality is so painful. Yato's dad is the worst :(
*Original Review 11/18/2020* (Previously rated 3 stars) Lol jk the stray is the worst. I got played just like Yukine. But seriously why do all the bad things have to happen to Yukine?? Poor Yato has such a big decision to make and Yukine is losing it.
Yayyyy I read this over the last few days too because all I want to read right now are comics/manga!!!! Noragami is my favorite manga on this planet and I think it's coming to an end soon and I'm emo about it. I don't think we're ever getting a season 3 to the anime and I hate that for me but I'm so glad the manga is still going and it's still SO GOOD.
This is definitely a 4-star volume but that's more my own fault--manga gets so complicated sometimes and my big dumb brain can't always keep up lol. There were a lot of complex things happening in this volume and sometimes I was like "wa." Also Hiyori was in this for like 1 minute and that made me sad.
Yeah, I'm officially done with this series. It started out really strong, but I started losing interest to the point that I was struggling to read the next volume because I didn't care. It's finally getting to the climatic showdown, but all that boils down to is who's going to kill whom and at this point I straight up don't care.
THAT BEING SAID. I DO NOT THINK THIS IS A BAD SERIES. In fact, I think this series has some of the best fantasy worldbuilding I've seen and the characters are truly great. It's also worth noting that I consider entertainment value to be the most important aspect of a series, so even a series has a great story, great characters, great writing and worldbuilding, if I'm not enjoying it, none of that really matters.
Despite my gripes, I would definitely recommend this series to others, especially those looking for a fantasy specializing in Japanese folklore. This series has a lot of great qualities, don't let my opinion turn you away from it or keep you from finishing it.
Yato, chico, eres tonto.
I don't know why people really liked this one. Just when Yukine returned to normal they used him once again to create some kind of plot before showing us Yato confronting Father. I think it was a cheap way to achieve it. I started to like Yukine couple of volumes ago but now I hate him again...I'm pretty disappointed and upset. This is why I decided to say a few things about this volume.
First off, I'm once again saying fuck Yato's dad. I despise him and how his way of using everyone around him as his pawns. Seeing Yukine be manipulated by him breaks my heart. I especially hate seeing him question how he died and no one being there for him, including Yato. I was so stressed seeing how Yato could feel that something was wrong with Yukine, but was so focused on training with Kazuma so that they could kill his dad. It also broke my heart seeing how Kofuku and Takemikazuchi left with their shinki when Yukine started with his questions, even though I know why they did so and that it wasn't an easy decision. I wish that Yato and Yukine talked before things got so out of hand. I'm really scared to learn about Yukine's backstory and how he ended up dying and has a fear of the dark. The Stray seems to know her backstory and her true name without turning into an ayakashi so I'm hoping there is a chance that Yukine will be okay even if he finds out but I really don't know. I also don't trust the Stray at all, especially with the ending. I think she is just manipulating Yukine and his feelings to help Yato's dad.
I'm really curious what Bishamon is going to do when she learns that Kazuma made himself a stray, and to Yato of all people. I don't believe that she will take back his name, and I hope I'm not wrong. Hiyori was separated from Yato, Yukine, and the other gods for almost all of the volume, which makes me really sad. I was nervous seeing her confront Yato's dad, because I do think she underestimates how dirty he plays and I was right. I wonder if her tail with be able to heal and how long she won't be able to go into her other form.
Sidenote but Takemikazuchi has grown on me a lot and he is very funny to watch, especially when he was fighting with Yato and Kazuma, but had no clue who they were. I also loved that Kofuku was so protective of Yukine and vowed to unleash her bad luck onto the other gods if they tried to kill him. I hope that someone is able to reach out to Yukine soon. I also hope he and Yato will reunite quickly. I'm scared that he is be a stray for Yato's dad either to spite Yato or because Yato's dad is just so conniving and manipulative that he would make Yukine think it was a good idea. Ughhhh.....

Whoa! Fujisaki¡¯s charisma really shines in this volume. He does reveal a little bit more about himself to Yukine but I think there are still things we don¡¯t know about him and that will unfold in the next volumes. His fight scene with Hiyori was perfect, but if I remember well, it is the only time Hiyori is present in this volume. I missed seeing her, it¡¯s as if she is not a main character anymore since it focuses much more on Yato and Yukine, even though those two have barely any scenes together. Honestly, I don¡¯t care about Yato and Kazuma, I just want to see the old gang back together and not separated and do their own thing alone.
Like I¡¯ve preciously stated, Yukine is much more present in this volume. He has some interaction with Nora and Fujisaki, and I guess we will see this trio more often in the future. Yukine is finally getting curious about his death. He was upset about it at the beginning of the series without wanting to know more about it while Hiyori seemed to be the one who was the most curious about it. We should know more about it in the next volume.
The pacing was a little bit off throughout the volume, but it definitely picks up at the end. Damn the end!!! I really want to know what is going to happen next, but the publication between each volume is soooo long. That¡¯s the only flaw this manga has.

I really, really love this series and it offers something new that I haven't seen in a while. That being said, these last few volumes have been getting way too dark, way too fast. That's not to say that I can't handle darkness or I don't enjoy it--horror is my love first and foremost over any fantasy. It's just that these characters have been so well established as a team unit that loves to have a lot of fun, so when they are pulled apart and they go from good to dark really fast, it makes it hard to read and I feel myself starting to lose interest because they no longer feel like my characters. I hope this problem gets better in the future, as this series really did start off with a bang. But otherwise, I am only cautiously optimistic of what is to come.
Not as exciting as the last volume (quite a bit more bleak, actually), but still very interesting! - Hiyori has decided to stick to them human world. Sadness. - Yukine's become curious about his past and apparently it's contagious, so now everyone's avoiding him (or planning to kill him). Yukine absolutely cannot catch a break. - Yato and Kazuma train together. It's going. . . - So I'm pretty sure we actually can't trust Nora? I was right. (Though it is unclear...) - Yukine finally found Yato with Kazuma. He's angry that Yato is ready to kill himself by killing his father, and Yukine is also becoming unhinged as his curiosity contagion spreads. WHAT IS GOING ON- - Oh, and the crafter wants to take Yukine now. Hooray.

We reach a new level of heartbreak with this volume, as our beloved found family is broken apart, each having their own struggles. The gods are worried about their shinki, Yukine has an existential crisis, Hiyori is left behind, and Yato is training to sacrifice himself to kill the sorcerer. And it¡¯s nothing but heartbreaking.
The way the plot picks up in intensity as you see the bad things coming their ways is so well done. The pages turn by themselves, and it¡¯s the first time I¡¯ve ever been that engrossed by a manga. Multiple pages had me actually gasping out loud. It makes me feel so much, and I¡¯m absolutely terrified for what¡¯s coming in the next chapters. The final showdown is coming our way, and I feel like I¡¯m not ready at all.
I genuinely don¡¯t know if Adachitoka could do anything wrong. Noragami is such a vivid, expressive, eye-captivating series ¨C the detail in the shading is reverential.
The story is riveting, its complex characters add new layers and make you question your assessments of them. It¡¯s hard not to sympathize with every character in Noragami as we are given an understanding of their motivations and desires.
This is a series I recommend to anyone and everyone. It¡¯s just so damn good. There is fighting but it¡¯s not exhaustively displayed or formulaic the way it tends to get in unnamed popular franchises (we all love them but let¡¯s be real).
We¡¯re really setting foot in the end game now! Yato and Kazuma have worked their butts off, battled Take, and fired a shot at Dad (which failed due to a border). But it seems dad has finally given up on Yato and may just aim to kill him. He¡¯s also wounded Hiyori¡¯s ties to the afterlife and set Yukine on the path of questioning how he died. It¡¯s really heartbreaking to see him facing it down and at the same time having it denied him by all the others. They all just left him to protect their shinki, and put their heads together to try and come up with a way to save him. This was a tear jerker of a volume.

Kazuma is now one of Yato¡¯s shinki, their training together doesn¡¯t go very well. Yukine have a strange encounter with the sorcerer and is touch by ¡°God greatest secret¡± he wants to learn how he died, even if he has been told to let go of the past. The young boy slowly becoming infected. The other Gods are keeping their distance but wants to save him, even if this never have been done before. The volume end with a cliffhanger and some Yukine angst. Give the poor boy a break!
AY!
I was so hesitant to reread/catch up with this manga as I was afraid it wouldn¡¯t hold up to my memory of it. But it went above and beyond in defeating my expectations. This manga is all about growth and and not letting your past define your present. Such a wonderful story depicting trauma and the different ways it effects people. Also the fact that the female characters are always so fleshed out and badass?? A bonus ?
Lloro por Yukine! Por qu¨¦ todo lo que no deseaba, est¨¢ ocurriendo?!!! Nadie entiende! Nadie entiende!
Spoiler . . .
