Yeah, I'm officially done with this series. It started out really strong, but I started losing interest to the point that I was struggling to read the next volume because I didn't care. It's finally getting to the climatic showdown, but all that boils down to is who's going to kill whom and at this point I straight up don't care.
THAT BEING SAID. I DO NOT THINK THIS IS A BAD SERIES. In fact, I think this series has some of the best fantasy worldbuilding I've seen and the characters are truly great. It's also worth noting that I consider entertainment value to be the most important aspect of a series, so even a series has a great story, great characters, great writing and worldbuilding, if I'm not enjoying it, none of that really matters.
Despite my gripes, I would definitely recommend this series to others, especially those looking for a fantasy specializing in Japanese folklore. This series has a lot of great qualities, don't let my opinion turn you away from it or keep you from finishing it.
