Naomi Hi Daniel.
A few suggestions. I agree with the Orphan X series by Gregg Hurwitz and Gray Man series by Mark Greaney. Orphan X starts with the title Orphan X. The Gray Man series starts with The Gray Man. Two others that come to mind, Stephen Hunter’s Bob Lee Swagger series. It starts with Point of Impact. Also Thomas Perry’s Butcher Boy series, starts with The Butcher’s Boy.

Tom Wood Thanks for helping out, Naomi

Fiona Hi Daniel

None compare to Victor, but these are my next best favourites in the genre:

Orphan X series by Gregg Hurwitz
Mitch Rapp by Vince Flynn
Gabriel Allon series by Daniel Silva
Marc Dane series by James Swallow
FireFly by Henry Porter
I am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes

That lovely lot should keep you going a fair bit until Victor returns!

Best wishes
Fiona

Julie In addition to the awesome authors already mentioned other good ones. David Baldacci, Harlan Coben, Lee Child

Daniel Thanks guys, I am already 10 books into Jack Reacher, read the first books in both Orphan X and The Gray Man. I was not wowed by Orphan X but will continue with TGM. Can't wait to check out the others.

Tahsinur Rahman John Rain series and Livia Lone series by Barry Eisler is equally good as Victor, especially John Rain. The ‘tradecraft is wonderful in the books. And as a female protagonist, Livia Lone is really, really superb.

David Namba I agree with all of the above suggestions, and strongly recommend the John Rain series by Barry Eisler. I have also enjoyed the Jonathan Quinn series by Brett Battles
