You have good points in this post. Atheists get far more hate and discrimination in muslim countries, though.
I am a Christian, and I would never show hate, or discrimination. I know many atheist. I do not hate them, I just pray for them. I pray they open their eyes and realize the truth. Actually hate itself is against the Christian religion. As Christians we are supposed to love and help people, not hate and discriminate against them. But I also agree with the fact that, unfortunately, some Christians do make the REAL ones look bad. Some do discriminate and press hatred upon non believers, gays, trans, etc etc. But that's not how it's supposed to be at all. But sadly that does happen. ALOT.
Don't say that Christians don't take heat in the West. Because we do. I told someone I was a Christian the other day, and they mocked me, laughed at me and so much more. There is so much discrimination in the world today.
You've got a good point. I haven't thought of it from your perspective, honestly. But it's really sad to hear that Christians today seldom demonstrate the love that Christ did. Sorry, I don't mean to sound like I'm pushing my religion on you. I really, genuinely am sad that there are people like that (especially people like the Westboro Baptist church). Maybe someday, you will meet a good Christian and won't have such negative views of them. Really, I would have loved to meet you, and I wish I could have had the opportunity to make you feel like you weren't being persecuted.
do not blame Christians for your own bitterness, no one can make you feel anything, your feelings you take on yourself, blaming others is just your excuse for your own bitterness
To be honest, christians are pretty persecuted in the media and so on. Dunno, could ASK ONE OF US what it's like.
Atheists are the vocal majority in the media and have shown us no less than contempt and hate. Go search Twitter, Reddit, Youtube, ŷ, and you'll see far more instances of atheist contempt and hatred towards Christianity (not downright persecution, yet) than Christian hatred towards atheists.
I'm a Christian myself and I agree. We often treat atheists as though they're stupid and evil just because they disagree with us, when, just like that verse you referenced, we're supposed to do the exact opposite. One of Jesus's biggest points in his ministry was that we shouldn't judge others, and I think it's really sad that judging people is what Christians are most known for. A lot of people in my church are some of the kindest and most understanding people I've ever met, and I really, really wish every Christian was more like them, and by extension more like Christ himself, and not the judgmental closed minded bigots who are filled with hate and malice. I'm sorry that you've faced persecution, but just know that the God I worship is grieved that that's your experience of his people.
