He doesn't wait in line. Isn't there a Gone Girl you could go read.?
Oh dear, Reader-of-"My Struggle", have I stepped on your Murakami? It's my line I'm talking about, so I get to put him in it. Reading horrible other things in the meantime, just to make him wait. Wishing I had David Mitchell's latest, actually.
Point taken on "My Struggle." I'm not sure why 1 in 9 Norwegians have read it. On the other hand, I have no interest in Cloud Atlas etc. I'm motoring through Orfeo and the Booker long list.
I agree about My Struggle. I read a few page, skipped ahead and read some more and then gave up.
Don't tell me you didn't love On Chesil Beach? That book was gut-wrenching. I enjoyed everything on the Booker list last year, other than Lowland, and I thought Luminaries was amazing.
Orfeo is a different way of seeing the world. I don't understand a lot of it, but I'm enjoying it.
Tsukuru is a familiar character in Murakami novels. The plot is compelling, and the writing is always good. At the same time, I wonder if the translation is as good as Windup Bird Chronicles.
