I agree about the ending. If you hate it, then stop reading, but if you're bored at times or trying to "figure it out," just be patient. It's certainly not for everyone.
Interesting that you enjoyed the third generation. I found everything and everyone after the banana company to be depressing, evoking a sense of longing and nostalgia for everything and everyone before. The ending I'm still wrapping my mind around. Absolutely worth finishing though, despite my interpretation.
