I think you are confused about who Ed is. That was Anna's husband, not the adoptive father.
Classie, yes, the book says they adopted him. But, how, when, why, where did they find Ethan. There is a story there. And why so much hate between Alistar and Katie? Were they lovers? Was Alistar the real father anyway?
They found Ethan to adopt in San Francisco. Alistar was not the biological father. Ethan said that Katie had stalked him all of Ethan’s life...& tracked him down & heard his father was getting tranferred from Boston to NYC. That is all I got from why Alistar hated Katie so much....They definitely were never lovers.
