But this was confusing to me also because on the last page the author writes "the three of them were silent, listening to the last scratchy rubs of crayon as the headstone transferred to paper". If Darby was with them, there would be four of them, not three. Just bad editing?? And on the page before that one, they mention some of the dead - Ed Schaeffer; Corporal Ron Hill; and Darby Thorne. Very confusing...
