[close] Merry Meet! Welcome to Book Witches! We are one of the oldest Witches' reading groups...both online and off since 2013. :) Travel with us on the winding road that weaves in and out of the mundane and magickal. Cleanse your heart and mind of all cares and observe Water; it can teach you to yield as well as flow. Walk upon the soft Earth with others who share a deep love of the natural and "super" natural world. Lift your arms into an amber Sky. Turn your ambitions and passions into fuel for Fire and explore the vast realm of the Spirit and all that is possible through it. Witchcraft is a positive, life uplifting and nature-based religion with roots that stretch deep across ancient times as well as into modern times. We primarily read pagan, magickal, nature and Wiccan/Witchcraft NONFICTION books. We first vote from our Book Cauldron's collection of titles we have gathered. Then, we begin each book on the New Moon (or thereabouts) and host a group chat once per month in addition to other ongoing discussions here. For more details (such as when a book begins, chat times, etc.) please look under our Book Discussions thread. We also now have fun FICTION Book Discussions for members to share about their favorite fictional works that pertain to the Craft, magick and paganism. We will not vote on these or discuss them formally, it will just be for fun. :) Who reads with us? We consider seekers 18+ (and their family members or partners) who are genuinely interested in learning about our beautiful path and who desire friends and mentors in the Craft. [close] The purpose of this book club is to encourage the reading of books/works of literature that focus on topics related to the the natural world and environmental issues, ranging from agriculture and conservation to environmental justice and activism. It would be great to pay close attention to the development of the modern environmental movement in the U.S., starting from its humble beginnings (i.e. American Transcendentalism) and moving all the way up to the present day. We hope to read and then discuss an equal amount of the classics and more modern titles. A goal of mine is to have this club help build and support a community of knowledgeable and responsible citizens.
