North and South isn't a book that I would have actively chosen to read. It was a book club pick, and initially I thought that I'd just skip it. In the end, I figured that book clubs offer a great opportunity to get it's readers to branch out and read from genres that they might normally not be exposed to, so with an open mind I added North and South to my Kindle.

I read this book on my kindle along with listening to the audiobook. This book follows two families, one from the North and one from the South. The two main characters meet at West Point and Althea they come from very different backgrounds they develop a strong friendship and bond lasting years. This s the first book in a series. There is also a mini series that was made for tv I believe in the late 70’s or early 80’s.
