I love Stephen Briggs' recordings of Discworld novels - he does the characters wonderfully. I'm very fond of Monstrous Regiment - Polly is a fabulous character (and it was nice to have women as the central characters of a Discworld novel) and I love the way this novel ends, and the way Polly matures throughout the story. Sam Vimes' little role is great as well (I'm always pleased to see him pop up in a story).

I read it, I liked it, but it's not my favorite. It got sloggy in places and was about a hundred pages too long. I saw the humor, the winks to the reader, and it made me smile, but wasn't laugh out loud funny. I really liked Polly but the political stuff, eh.

It's been a while since I finished a book in a day but this demanded it. Pratchett is far too awesome to wait.

One of my very favorite Pratchetts.
