Like the other books I’ve read by this author, this was kind of weird but engrossing and satisfying. This one is about a family with magical powers, but the middle girl never developed any during her teen years, and they suddenly break out when she's twenty—except it’s not a cute power, but a darker one. One of Hoffman's best. Although Gypsum is an adult, she's still treated as a child by her family because she never developed any powers. In the course of the book she develops and comes to terms with her ability to curse. ...more
