Roz Chast is, I am told, a famous cartoonist for The New Yorker. Her work, critics says, is a mix of “wordplay, schlumpy characters and anxious humor.� But not only is this is the first Chast book I have read, it’s the first graphic novel I have ever read, and it was so personal and emotional and moving that I was amazed � and quite frankly, couldn’t put it down.

Since my own parents are all in the 70s, I may not be facing the scenario that Roz Chast must deal with in this book: the declining health, both mental and physical of her 90-something year old parents. She doesn't leave much out. It ricochets from laugh out loud funny to shaking your head with disbelief that this all happened and continues to happen everyday to families all over the world.
