This was a fun novella and made me want to organize a murder mystery game. It's set before the first book, so Pip isn't yet traumatized from all the things and gets to have fun solving the murder. It was easy to get invested in the game and I found myself trying to put the clues together along with Pip.
The ending was a bit unexpected and I may just have to reread the first Girl's Guide book again!

Having blown through this entire series earlier this year, I was super excited to jump back in and with a prequel to boot!
I love murder mysteries. I've always wanted to have a murder mystery party so getting to read one was almost the same, right? And this was so fun. I loved being back with Pip and seeing who she was before the Andie Bell case. You really get a good feel of how competitive she is and how she always wants to be right, but you also get to see how much she gives to the case and w ...more

This was a fun novella to go back to when I was missing the AGGGTM universe.
A nice little addition that has Pip trying to solve a murder mystery her friends planned. I hadn’t realized how much I missed Pip😅 Might have to dive back and re-listen to the series again. She’s also so young and so not traumatized yet. This poor child has no idea what’s coming😫

I fell head over heels in love with Holly Jackson’s amazing writing style the other year when I picked up YA Thriller, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder. I instantly loved her characters and the way she kept me completely guessing right till the very end. So, when I saw this short prequel novella that was released for World Book Day, I just had to get it and read ‘where it all started.
I wish I had loved this novella, but honestly, I was a little bored all the way through. ...more

What a great little prequel to the series! It sets the stage for the GGGTM series perfectly by introducing these characters and their dynamic before Pip began investigating Andie Bell's murder.
