I started off really disliking the main character. But I suppose the average person would be the same as him in that situation. He had to find himself and his strength. He was more tolerable by the end of this book. I'm going to love this series. I really like the " journal stories". A must read.

Wussy British bureaucrat caught in the zombie apocalypse.
There is only one character in this story - other than the zombies of course - and crumbling London. Part claustrophobic hiding in his flat, part daring escape, part scrounging and dodging. Well written with an interesting evolving character's story told by a plucky narrator with a charming voice and English accent. Light on gore and action - he's a sneaker dodger type- no sex thank heavens, little if any swearing. Quite good overall, zomb ...more

A great take on the somewhat standard surviving-zombies end of the world story, with our single hero, having been trapped with a broken leg during the early stages of the outbreak, trying to get away from the invested centre of London to what he hopes is better life in the country.
What makes this different is that it is written in the form of a journal, so although the early entries fill in the back story, everything else is taken day by day, or even hour by hour on occasion.

5 stars cause the kid persevered through it all. Not many would have been able to hobble through London with a broken leg, ride a bike with a broken leg w/cast.
Surviving was all he wanted to do, needed to do and focused on... even despite being stabbed in the back again and again, from his friend who told him .. stay here I will send a car back for you.
Did she though ?? The question was always there, did she send the car to pick him up or to kill him.

Absolutely riveting British zombie novel designed as a journal depicting the days and weeks after a virus sweeps through London, the UK and the world. I love Zombie books based at home with a British flavour and this one didn't let me down. Tense in its claustrophobic setting of a man holed up in his flat nursing a broken leg whilst watching the undead walking around outside. He has missed the scheduled evacuation of London; can he survive in his flat alone whilst his leg heals and can he make t

I started reading this book, not really expecting much, but I've read 8 of the books in 3 weeks. It turned out to be one of my favorite series. Why it's self published is a mystery. Some publishing house is totally missing out. I think for any zombie fan, it's a must read.
