Growing up, John Wyndham was one of my favourite authors. I love The Day of The Triffids and The Kraken Awakes but I'd never read The Midwitch Cuckoos.
First off, I think my tastes have changed as, I did not enjoy the story as much as I thought I would. The story jumps to the action straight away when the village of Midwitch becomes surrounded by a strange energy field that knocks all of those within its area of effect unconscious.
