Here is the thing. Ayn Rand writes a GREAT potboiler. It's a fun novel, if you can get past the philosophy. You need to learn to read past the monologues, and the rambling, and the OH SELFISHNESS IS A VIRTUE! LOOK OUT FOR YOURSELF!
Once you can get past that, you're good to go. Objectivism is a vile way to live. It is a black and white way to look at the world, a bleak philosophy that only works if you're under 25 and still living off of your parents.

I hated myself for agreeing with some of Rand's points, and grew frustrated with the characters and the obvious flaws in the philosophy presented, but couldn't stop reading it.
