This book is truly everything I hope to see made into a movie. It captures the gamer in me alongside the nostalgia that was my childhood and the imagination of the future. Combine elements of The Matrix, Sword Art Online, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and you'll have this wild ride in mind.

I think if there was any critique would be that in a few decades, this book may never find a younger audience to truly appreciate it as much as it will be by my generation. Still, it was wonderfully m

Ready Player one is a novel that dwells into the nostalgia of the 80's and gives it a twist with a competion for glory and game.

The search of Halliday easter egg was the most compeling part of the narrative and the curiosity to discover the gates was what made me finish this novel. A diverse cast of characters and an unexplored future was also a plus.

On the down side, the main character was bland and abnoxious, and I never had any doubts that he will always win every obstacle because he is sooo

4.5 out of 5 stars

The first 70 pages or so of the novel dragged for me, as they feature a long-winded explanation of Halliday's life, the Easter Egg hunt challenge, and world-building description dumps. While I appreciated the 80s references and understood the majority of them, they did feel a bit overkill at times. The larger

Overall, I enjoyed the book. I listened to it as an audiobook performed by Wil Wheaton, which was just perfect casting for the narration, one of those cases, where the audiobook performance might be better than just having read the book would be.

In case you haven't heard about this one yet: in brief: in the not-too-distant-future the world has gone to hell in a handbasket and most people are spending nearly all their time online in a giant online world called the OASIS as an escape. The guy who

This book is not my cup of tea, but if you are into gaming and 1980s nostalgia then you will fall in love with this book.
My favorite thing about it was the obvious labor of love carried out by Cline to write this story. Every bit of his passion for the content bleeds through the pages.
It is equal parts adventure thriller and raw emotional tale. I hope to see it played out on the silver screen someday - I think it will be great!
