Definitely one of the smartest, if not THE smartest, YA novel I've ever read. Brilliant!

I read this because my son was reading it and I wanted to make sure it was appropriate. It was a bit intense in the beginning, but it definitely grabbed me fast and didn't let go! Jumping from character to character took a little adjusting to each time but definitely kept you guessing to what was going on. I did figure out the twist ahead of time, but it didn't make the book anymore exciting and fun to read. Can't wait to read number 2. Oh, it's probably best for middle schoolers, but I can't ke

Another great series from Rick Yancey! This book has a totally different voice and feel than the Monstrumologist Series but I enjoyed The Fifth Wave also. The language in this book is much more basic than in his other books but no less well written. The 5th Wave tells of an alien invasion in the not so distant future where it is almost impossible to know who the enemy is. The book is less about the aliens and the invasion itself and more about how the people are coping with the situation. Cassie

4 stars (I liked it)
This was an interesting apocalyptic story. There is a bit of mystery that keeps the reader wanting to find out more.
I started to think of Sammy as a MJ though. You know in YA books there is often this girl who is actually quite boring but all the boys love her (ie Bella from Twilight). They are referred to as a Mary Jane (MJ). Sammy was that in a way. Everyone wants to protect him and risk their lives for him and he is just kind of meh.
Still enjoyed the story though!
