What Members Thought

First of all I really liked the book, but also a part of me didn't. I'm not the kinda girl who goes to party's and drinks alcohol, so that's why I didn't like the story that much. But I loved F. Scott Fitzgerald's writing style.
So the story was kinda silly, but that depends on how much you like partying and drinking. On the other hand I really liked the story because it shows us how life was in de 1920s. This book really gave me that thought.

In my review, a comparison of The Great Gatsby to that of a desert.
The Gatsby story is like a desert you savor. The characters are like the initial aroma's that tease and entice your senses. The first bite is like the underlining question; will she or won't she love the right man? or Will he or won't he love the right woman? It was an eh-ish read for me. I watched the 2013 movie first and really enjoyed it, but reading the over-hyped novel was a bit lackluster. I was expecting more since people were saying the novel was better than the movie, and I was let down.
I did enjoy picking up on references that Gatsby, Daisy and Nick might have had black roots but were 'passing' off as white.
