Shelves: audio, paranormal, in-series-or-trilogy

I have been trying to love this series as much as the Psy-changling series by this author, but after 3 books in it just still isn't completely doing it for me. At the same time, it is enough there for me to want to know what happens, but it isn't an urgent need. Just a mild curiosity that means at some point I will pick up the next book to find out what happens, but not right now.

In the first book I felt like these two had a connection and it seemed effortless. Now it just seems forced at times ...more

Elena and Raphael's story continues and gets more complicated as new and old threats resurface.

The structure of their world is interesting, with angels on the top of the hierarchy being the masters of vampires and humans in their territories.

Raphael is one of the Archangels in charge and Elena is now trying to combine her new life as his consort and newly made angel and her old one as a Guild Hunter.

Nalini Singh writes fantastic, gripping stories and this one is no exception. As natural disasters begin to take an unnatural turn, all signs point to an ancient awakening. Raphael fears that it may be his mother, who hid in Sleep after nearly killing him centuries before. Elena has family problems of her own, but as vampires go crazy everywhere, they have to face the possibility of killing Caliane before she kills them - if she is the cause of their problems. I really liked the first book but not the second. Thankfully this book jumps right back up there to 5 stars. I love the interplay between Elena and Raphael (bad-ass angel or not, love surely conquered him). I liked the conflict with Lijian and Caliance (?). I so love the Seven - those guys are such bad-asses yet sweet and lovable too.
