What Members Thought

Eh, Treasure Island was okay at most. I certainly liked it more as a kid. Actually it took me like two days to read the last 30 pages and that says something. Maybe because I was already familiar with the plot, or the Long John Silver twist, or with Ben Gunn and the fate of the treasure, once the action moved to the Skeleton Island, things got a bit boring for me.

Simply a fun book. I think that the end seems a bit cut off...it is not a satisfying ending to an otherwise great story. If it were written in modern days, one would suspect Stevenson had plans for a sequel since he left Long John Silvers mysteriously unaccounted for, as well as the three marooned on the Treasure Island.

The old fashioned English takes patience to adjust to, but this book richly deserves it's accolade as a "classic." Bethie and I both found ourselves, unexpectedly, looking forward to listening to this.
