Even better than The Kite Runner. The author's ability to write from the perspective of not one, but two, women is phenomenal. He's definitely in touch with his feminine side! It should be a must-read for American high schoolers.

Khaled Hosseini has done it again. He's broken my heart with a story I'll never forget, a story that made me hug my kids a little tighter, a story that made me think of all the freedoms we take for granted in this country, a story that made me seek out my husband and tell him how much I appreciate him.

Like The Kite Runner before it, A Thousand Splendid Suns centers around the incredible lives of modern Afghani men and women. The subject matter is, as expected, extremely bleak, yet Hosseini's cleaver hand paints vivid and amiable characters that make the books hard to put down.
A Thousand Splendid Suns chronicles the lives of two Afghani women struggling to survive through all the tumultuous events of the past few decades.

I wouldn't be the first to say I enjoyed Kite Runner more. This book, while still good in its own right, felt a little less enjoyable. It was almost a bit by the numbers. That said there were some memorable and deeply haunting moments.
