I liked this very much. I had seen it twice before reading it. It is far more moving when seen in performance. Upon reading, it just seemed flat and banal. However, the performance we saw at DC’s Arena Stage many years ago was extraordinary, just so moving, I left the theater weeping. The utter simplicity of that production, gave such insight into how our daily lives, seemingly unremarkable, are yet full of splendor if we can take the time to appreciate it. But who can? This is a classic of small-farmtown American representation. It might be boring to some, but that only proves its accuracy.
