I first read this play in 12th grade in Speech/Drama (I think it was) and fell in love with it. Now 26 years later I love it just as much. Back in the day I loved it for its simplicity, its look at everyday life and how things had changed since the turn of the century and in some ways stay the same. Wilders play was performed by our local high school every couple of years when I was growing up. I loved to see it and never tired of it. It is one piece of literature that can make me cry.
