Wow. That was the first word that came out of my head after I finished this book. Be prepared people there will be MAJOR SPOILERS as I gripe and praise this book.

I really don't know where to begin. I have to admit the ending of the book made me tear n cry a little and I NEVER CRY at movies or books. I have been told many times by my annoying sister that my heart is made of ice lol. Well if she coulda seen me tearing at this book, she'd have nothing to say.

Okay. First, I want to say that I liked this book. But I have major issues with it and that is what I will focus on. The fact that I just like it is disappointing because I was expecting to absolutely LOVE it. The first and second books (although I did have some minor gripes about them) were AMAZING. The fact that the story focuses on the east rather than the western world was so great because it is so different from whats out there. Additionally, the characters were great. Kelsey annoyed me at Okay. First, I want to say that I liked this book. But I have major issues with it and that is what I will focus on. Kelsey annoyed me at first but eventually I grew to like her. I absolutely love Ren, Kishan, and Mr. Kadam. The third book was good as well (at least I think it was, I apparently gave it 5 stars although now I can't remember exactly what happened in it).

The only thing that I DID NOT LIKE FROM DAY ONE was the love triangle. I am so SICK OF LOVE TRIANGLES. Authors-give it a break! PLEASE. And the fact that it drags into more than one book is just annoying. The story would have been awesome with Kelsey and Ren as a couple going through their hardships, break-ups and make-ups without any THIRD party interference. But where does that leave Kishan you may ask? I have no problems with Kishan! I love this character. He just does not need to be in love with Kelsey and become the one you just pity and shake your head to saying "poor fool." Having him flirt with her and be aggressive is totally fine, especially to piss off his bro. But he did not need to fall in love with her. The author certainly could have found another story line for him. In fact, she did in this fourth book (I actually called out that plot line from the third book.) Make him Durga's tiger and love. I knew that shit was going to happen the first time he laid eyes on Durga and was floored by her. The author could've just left it at that! That would've been an AMAZING second love story and would have left out that stupid triangle. Anyway, WE ALL KNEW that Kelsey would end up with Ren and some of us may have guessed that Kishan would end up with Durga. It seems stupid and a waste to make that "love triangle twist" when it is so obvious what will happen. Without it, so much more could have been done with the story and it wouldn't be so cliche.

That triangle frustrates me to no end. Yes Kelsey, go off and marry someone who you don't love. Accept his proposal when you love his brother'cause that's the right thing to do! I mean...this whole marriage shit annoys me. Especially in a teen book. The girl is like...20 years old. Go to college, get a damn job, then get married. What message does this give to young girls? Find a rich husband, get married at 20 years old, and pop out babies instead of getting an education and/or career.

But I digress. Okay. So, I guess I have more issues with this book than I thought.

One thing that I particularly liked but at the same time disliked was the author FINALLLLLYYYYYYYYYY addressed Kelsey's issues with her parent's death. Alleluia. The scene I am talking about is when she is burned by the Phoenix. The fact that she felt she can't be with Ren because she doesn't deserve happiness/must keep her sadness is REAL. Say what you want about it being stupid but that shit is real. I feel it. Two years after my dad has died, I still feel that because he is dead I don't deserve to be truly happy, that I shouldn't be truly happy because then I would forget him. Some people may say that logically that doesn't make sense and I agree. But you know what? When you are mourning such a loss, your heart isn't running on logic. Anyway, what I don't like about this is that IT CAME OUT OF LEFT FIELD.I was expecting Kelsey to go on about her being a radish while Ren is a triple layered chocolate cake or something and that's why she can't be with him- you know,her usual stupid thoughts. So when she said the deaths of her loved ones prevented her, I was like....WHAT? Where is this coming from? After three books of Kelsey's perspective and NO MENTION of this at all, it just threw me off. The author should have addressed this earlier or hinted at it so that when it came readers won't react with...."well that's stupid."

Okay, so for now, that is all. Until I come up with more. But I did like it. I just expected more. Wah.

So I was looking up books to read on 欧宝娱乐 and discovered that there is a 5th book to this series.

NO! Absolutely not! Just....no.

Okay. Here is my reasoning: The author wrote 4 books (which I think was a lot to begin with, but I really enjoy the series so I am not complaining about that) and the 4th- reviewed above- tied everything together in the end. The fourth book nicely ended story of Kelsey and Ren (and Kishan). So leave it alone. When a story is done, don't drag it out. Your publisher will also tell you when its done, which as I've read, is the case here as well. Leave it be. This is not a T.V. series where the characters go through several epic adventures. It may work for T.V. but not for series books. I just have no idea what she could write in the 5th book. Well, I do, but none of the ideas are good...sigh. ...more

Oh how I love this series, I love Houck's writing and I must say she is a genius and she is brilliant. With this book, light was shed on events that happened in books 1-3 in a way that had me looking at them in a different way than before. They all made scence then and even more so after reading Tiger's Destiny, and the way it was all layered and woven together was just incredible.
