The women were then profusely thanking Abbott and the other guy, offering payment that they both declined. Then they drove off to continue their Grand Canyon vacation, and Tank Top shook hands and said goodbye. It had been, Abbott thought, maybe the best few minutes of his life.
He tossed the shotgun into the Buick and then got low, thinking that if he were about to die, he was going to go out how he’d lived: with absolutely no idea what the hell was going on.
