The other people in your life are going to make decisions based on what they want in their life. Always. Even when it seems like they are interested in you, even when they genuinely do care about you, they are still going to make their decisions based on what works best for them. So you have to figure out what works for you. What will get you where you want to be. Then make sure any decision you make, no matter how small, will take you toward it.�

I don’t wish my son and his bride a happily ever after. I wish for them that they will make each other laugh. That they will support and encourage each other. Hold each other accountable. Uplift. Forgive. I wish for them the stamina it takes to choose love each and every day. For love is a verb. An action we choose. To love is to risk. To work through both the mundane and the unexpected. To love is to be completely vulnerable with no guarantee of safety. Because there is no happily ever after. There is only the choice to love.�
