“John Della Volpe, the director of polling at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, spoke to hundreds of young people for his 2022 book, Fight: How Gen Z Is Channeling Their Fear and Passion to Save America. When asked to describe the U.S., he found, young Millennials in the mid-2010s used words like “diverse,â€� “free,â€� and “land of abundance.â€� A few years later, Gen Z’ers instead said “dystopic,â€� “broken,â€� and “a bloody mess.”
