Received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Included are two stories, The Whitechapel Mystery A Psychological Problem by Dr. N.T. Oliver published in 1889 and the second is The Whitechapel Horrors by an anonymous author and appeared in two American newspapers-the Indianapolis Journal and the Chicago Tribune in 1888. The stories are about Jack the Ripper and were written during the times of the murders. Both stories have the identity of Jack the Ripper being an American. My favorite of the two would have to be The Whitechapel Mystery. I enjoyed the writing of this Victorian Era story and was intrigued by the use of hypnotism by the antagonist. I was also delighted that the editor, Donald K. Hartman, included at the end of the book extensive biographical information on Edward Oliver Tilburn (the supposed author of The Whitechapel Mystery). He was quite a character! ...more
