I liked this, I am always fascinated by memoirs, stories of other people鈥檚 lives, especially when they鈥檙e connected to restaurant life and the food industry. Woolever worked for Mario Batali and Anthony Bourdain so of course I was interested. But wow, the story should have been subtitled 鈥渁 memoir of addiction,鈥 because more than anything, this book is a painstaking catalog of how much drinking and doing drugs ruled her life. Not wanting children is a 1000% understandable!!)
There is a section of the book that is thoroughly confusing and feels almost like you鈥檝e wandered into a different novel, but it didn鈥檛 take away from what I liked the most about this book: the female antihero pov and the clever way the author wrote herself in as a character. It鈥檚 a bit of a mindf*%k....more
