The battle at the end was so marvelously well done, to the point where I didn't know how it was going to end. Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse... they got worse. And then... they got better.
And the very end? So unbelievably beautiful. I cried because it was so beautiful, and because I didn't want it to end. (It's not often that I cry while reading books.)
I've heard about this book many times, but just recently picked it up.
And, well, I loved it.
Normally I shy away from Christian fantasy. Er, that is, II've heard about this book many times, but just recently picked it up.

Normally I shy away from Christian fantasy. Er, that is, I haven't been able to find any *good* Christian fantasy for a long while. Yet this book completely drew me in.
It's true that the book drew heavily on inspiration from LotR and Narnia. Some might complain that it's just a copycat of the greats that have gone before us. In my opinion, though, this book was wonderful. Perhaps the greatest compliment I can give this book is that it contained truth: the real truth. The kind of truth that makes you want to strap on your sword because life is such a grand, big, beautiful adventure.
My favorite character was Captain Valithor. Falon was an amazing character as well. And I adored pretty much everyone else. Thank you, Wayne Thomas Batson, for writing fiction that mirrors real life. (Yes, if you've read this book, I meant that pun based off of The Mirror Realm. ;)...more

I finished it in two days and literally couldn't put it down at some parts. This is a lot weirder than the other Dekker stuff I've read, and at one point I felt like putting it down because of how...weird it seemed. But I continued, and suddenly everything made sense. The ending was so satisfying. Again, Dekker hasn't failed to surprise me. :)...more

Once again, I was surprised at how tactful the good vs. evil scenes were handled. I can get a little wary of books with magic in it, because sometimes the evil seems to be greater than the good. Nevertheless, Dekker did an awesome job of portraying the evilness of evil without diminishing from the good. While it took me a while to get through because of the holidays, I banged through the last twelve chapters and loved them. Infidel was very action-packed, and I can't wait to see what great ideas Dekker has used in the next book in the series, Renegade....more

I thought it was a worthy follow-up to the Circle Trilogy (which was amazing), but as I expected it didn't have as much of an impact on me as the original three books did (Black, Red, White). It was still wonderful to return to the vivid world that Dekker painted in the Circle Trilogy. I thought it was awesome, and I plan to keep reading the series....more
